rui's just not a super intuitive player, imo. he's a technician. he has some very good physical tools and obviously strong work ethic; he's just not a natural basketball player. that's fine; he's still a good nba player. but i think the rebounding and some of the defensive issues are just purely about lacking the "feel for the game" or whatever. you can't coach it, and only some of that gap can be made up with experience. knecht has similar issues.

 

Rui apparently getting involved in rumors with the singer Doja Cat, but shut it down!

Someone pushed something about his low rebounding numbers being related to him being our best defender at the three-point line and the distance from being in position to get rebounds. I’m not sure I buy that, but just throwing that out there.

BTW .... why is it I keep seeing a cap hold of 27M for him when he's making less than 20M now .... multiple times? What am I missing?

 

rui falls in bird, above average (same as reaves, iirc).

anyway, rui's cap hold is of no concern to me, as if we keep him it will be at or below his current salary, so we'll likely renounce him in almost any case. we can still sign him, but he won't strangle our cap unless we want him to (this would basically mean we keep lebron and operate fully over the cap again, which seems incredibly unlikely).

hit a couple really timely shots, as is getting to be his custom.

i lol'd on the one play where he boxed out pretty well, got a hand on the board, and somehow threw it out of bounds across the court. i was like...he's actually allergic to rebounds!

 

just absolutely terrible when he was basically only NBA regular player on whole roster

 

he's definitely a supporting player. this is why i said i don't think his cap hold affects us. there's no way we're keeping him at a cost at or above his current salary.

He's not playing up to his contract right now. At times he looks a legit playoff rotation piece but too many games he's just a no show. When you start thinking of him as a bigger version of Cardio that ain't good

 

His only value is shot maker. When he doesn’t do that he has no value
