Hmm. Again, KCP needs to demonstrate what his actual worth is out on the market. Personally I don't see a huge money deal coming his way from anyone (else). Who? Atlanta is not talking about him at all. Nor is New York. So who even has more than MLE and willingness to offer it to him? While it's a bit delicate in that KCP's agent is also AD and Lebron's, I don't think we should have to compete against ourselves essentially. Sure, give KCP a raise, but don't give up the farm for him when you don't have to.
If he wants significantly more money then he can see if someone else is willing to pay it. I like KCP and want him back but not for obscene money.
This is a side effect of having LeBron and Klutch. You have to either embrace it for titles now and sucking later or buckle up for possible turbulence. He got Tristan Thompson and JR Smith wayyy overpaid his second go around in Cleveland too if I remember right. We need to avoid stuff like that to a degree if we want to be ok once he retires, BUT you also never want to pass up opportunities to win right now.
We still need a big and there aren't any left on the market other than Thompson. Thompson is worth way more than the vet minimum
The Lakers need KCP back: the 4 guard rotation of Schroeder, KCP, Mathews, AC will be great. I hope this Harrell signing doesn't cripple these other signings
Look, Rich Paul and KCP and everyone in the universe knows we have a hard cap. Rich Paul just represented Harrell for an MLE deal! KCP is going to get a raise if he wants to be here. It just can't be crazy given our restrictions. If New York wants to throw silly money at him and he wants to go so be it. I don't see that happening but who knows?
I mean he does deserve 15 million a year based on what Danny Green got, but I get why the Lakers are hesitant to give him that amount, unless it was only a year.
