I thought this was a pretty good read into what makes Steve Kerr so successful. I think it also can kind of apply to the Lakers lol. That last bit was interesting. "You've got to have people that can be there to replace you." Do we have really good assistants that can replace Byron if he's gone? "Hire the best." "Take my wallet." "Do whatever it is to get the best assistants there are in the world." http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...oe-lacob-criticizes-former-coach-mark-jackson
You should always have somebody there to replace you? Hell no! I'm going to make the person behind me just good enough to fill in for me, but I don't want them better than me!
if you really have great folks working for you, you're going to look great and won't be fired. now, they might leave to lead their own team, but you have to replace them with others just as good. popovich has always had good assistants, many of whom went on to success elsewhere; rick carlisle (league's second best coach, imo) had two assistants leave and have a lot of success in the past couple of years. my concern about lacob's comments is that i wonder whether he has the expertise to know whether jackson a) did or did not know his Xs and Os and b) whether jackson had good assistants (which is really related to a). sounds like lacob was asking jackson to fire assistants and replace them with established guys, and he felt threatened or was too loyal to his guys. in the end, i do agree with lacob, though. you don't get ahead by protecting your a**.
You are mistaken, real. This is the most glaring mistake managers around the world do. Good ones. Mediocre ones are not suppose to be managing so it doesn't apply to them. I think it was Jobs who said that you should hire exceptional people. I, from my managerial experience, agree. http://recruitloop.com/blog/steve-jobs-top-hiring-tip-hire-the-best/
I was critical of them firing Jackson, but clearly there were these issues with him and management. Also, so far you can't really argue with the results, even with their relatively easy schedule so far, the Warriors look improved and like a top 4 West team.
It's pretty crazy. Before the season, I thought the Warriors would be a top 3 team in the West. I didn't think they would dominate like this because they just look like the flat out best team. They are the only team with a double digit margin of victory. They routinely blowing teams out so the starters barely play the 4th quarter. Also, when Lee comes back, their bench would consist of: Barbosa Livingston Iggy Lee Speights That's better than some team's starters.
Nah.You are afraid someone will replace you as Moderator. As for condescending... come on. You know me a bit better than this.
mark jackson was for them like avery johnson was for dallas. they needed a guy to come in and change the culture, but in the end, he was ill-suited for the long haul. i didn't like the firing at first, and i didn't understand the kerr choice. but they're right, and i was wrong.
Warriors are #1 on defensive rating while also being #1 in pace. I don't know if that has ever happened before. Edit: Never mind. They are #2 in pace, behind the C Bags by 0.1.
They are still a 2nd round exit (if they play SAS or MEM... and maybe even DAL and POR). They will beat HOU, LAC and OKC though.
When Collins came out as the first openly homosexual male athlete, Jackson had some harsh words. The Warriors President is openly homosexual. The writing was on the wall. Throw in that Oakland is right across from SF and the Warriors are moving to SF very soon.... c'mon, Jackson had no chance. Having said that, Kerr is doing a great job. I thought Jackson was really good in his first stint as a coach, but I doubt the Warriors would be this good with Jackson.
