Quoting Stevens because for all the flak that Rob got for saying the same thing last summer, he was 100% correct. What changed between then and now? I don't know, maybe swapping an aging AD for Luka in his prime had something to do with it. And now we're just a solid big man and wing defender away from having a chance at a ring. Having ownership with deep pockets might impact our willingness to spend as well. I really don't care if Walters decides Rob isn't his guy and moves on after this season, but I also don't believe that most of the GMs that get worshipped around here are as great as some think.

this exactly. i get painted as a rob fan or something. i'm not. i just don't think expectations are at all realistic, and any gm working here will be dealing with that.

saying that you can't buy what's not for sale or that the new cba makes life different than it used to be are just facts. that even the brilliant brad stevens must deal with.

I expect the focus to be on building up the infrastructure of the front office and beefing up staff in several areas during this transition period.

I don't expect a flashy name to be brought in to replace Rob or anyone else. At least not right off the bat.

Don't fool yourself, everyone has to sell tickets and short of a ring, everyone is gonna take Lebron because he sells a lot more than tickets. I mean the Buss family just made 5 Billion dollars!! You think without Lebron and no other rings to show for it, they would have been worth that much? I personally doubt it.

I actually do think Rob is good at his job. Maybe even better than good considering he has to sort through the Rambi + Tim Harris to get stuff done. But, I agree with most that if Mark Walters goes another direction, I'm going to be super good with that too. If Walters can find us the NBA equivalent of Andrew Friedman, I'm not going to complain about that.

Tim Connelly did it twice too, once for Denver and again at Minnesota. He does really well around the edges, even though both organisations hamstring by not spending large.

looks like he's at it again, getting naz reid on a very team-friendly deal. if he can do the same with randle and thus be able to keep NAW, that's pretty nifty work.

I guess we will see, if that can't buy a house that's not for sale line, ever comes out of Rob's mouth again.

I totally don't expect that excuse, to be floated this offseason LT. It's amazing what you can come up with, when your neck is on the line.

Looks like they're angling to bring Randle back on a team friendly deal, if he could resign NAW that would be a coop. They also have two decent guards to develop in Shannon Jr and Rob Dillingham to replace Conley retiring eventually.

Really nice team building by him again.

When the ink dries (btw, when does the sale become official?), Rob is GONE. Don't let the door hit you in the a** slim.

    Keep kicking the can

FREE AGENCY IS NOT A THING IN THIS CBA. Your replacement will realize that.

If we're waiting to '27 you have to land Greek Freak or Joker. If not, join WITSEC and run. Wasting years of our best player in their prime who showed they're able to drag a team through the playoffs, because another star could maybe, possibly, but probably not be available two years from now....

Even Trevor is turning on Rob, said on the show today he had like 3 out of 10 faith in Rob to get stuff done, he and Matt Peralta both said Rob is in the bottom 1/3 of the league ranked against other GMs. You have to think this is the result of having a FO of like 5 or 6 people, not enough people to be everywhere doing the stuff that needs to be done. Even if Rob weren’t mediocre at his job it’s still too much for one dude. Hell, maybe it isn’t a bad thing if he doesn’t make moves, better than bad ones, leaves the next guy assets to use.

He’s out here playing chess, while fans are calling out checkers moves.

I think we’re going to be just fine when all is said and done.

The silver lining there is that we should be addressing the staffing issues soon.

The folks at the top still matter but that alone will be a big positive for us moving forward.

With the rest, I think things calm down a lot once we lock in Ayton (yes, I am calling that one early but I feel like the other guys getting scooped up was a sign the rest of the league kind of knows this is all but a lock and wanted to scoop up the other available big men).
