I read it as Sick Infants in bed when I woke up and was confused, I thought you had started attacking the children.

To date we replaced DFS, Milton and Goodwin for LaRavia, Ayton and Smart without giving up any trade assets. Not a bad bit of business by Rob.

I’m very critical of Rob, but so far, so good. Feels like we are one trade away.

LOL this man is the LUCKIEST GM of all time.

His sole move this summer was nabbing Jake LaRavia but only because we lost DFS (remains to be seen if LaRavia can "replace" DFS production and value to the team)

He got lucky with the buyouts - so imo those shoudl not count esp when Luka recruited both guys and Ayton shares an agent with him

Did the Lakers get better? Absolutely. The problem is so did the rest of the west, and when push came to shove, Rob still couldn't deliver on a consolidation trade and he was forced to give up a guy that was pretty solid for us last year and was actually in our rotation in Jordan Goodwin. It's these things around the margins that Rob reallyyyy struggles with. Maybe we'll still make a trade later in the year...but we definitely could have benefitted from a consolidation trade to get a solid starting wing that is 3&D but Rob isn't creative enough. The fact that we have as many expiring contracts as we have going into the season is insane...Gabe/Kleber should be gone by now, and if we can't find a way to unload them...that's 100% on Rob

Everybody giving this guy credit is just funny to me. Guy lacks creativity when it comes down to it, and even when he makes small moves that make us better (DFS), he finds a way to piss it away. Yes, we should look at DFS leaving as Ayton/LaRavia coming here, but then I also think there was probably a way to keep DFS and STILL get Ayton with the bi-annual, and get Marcus Smart for the minimum. But Rob isn't creative enough or someone that can sell guys on roles...cuz ultimately that is what will get these guys their next contract and they're goign to opt out no matter what next summer so the figure this year wouldn't matter since they got their buyout money. I like Jake LaRavia btw but I don't think anybody else was going to offer him a contract the first day like we did, and I Think free agent market would have dried up and we'd be able to scoop him up anyways on the minimum like we did with Malik Monk a few years ago.

wut, he orchestrated the buyouts, planting seeds of discontent 1-2 years ago. He's already working on next year's buyout candidates.

SMH people, you are watching a master at work here.

lol, incredibly hard disagree, but ok.

oh, and word was laravia had two or three teams offer him a deal, i believe, not that this is the most problematic part of the argument presented.

anyway, at some point when you claim consistent luck somewhere, it's time to start looking for reasons...

danny ainge's career was built on two trades, one of which was a friend doing him a favor, and the other was a career-destroyer for the gm that made it on the other side. but he's a genius.

My personal favorite is Sam Presti who is the now the GOAT GM because he purposefully tanked his team forever and sold every star player for draft picks and most certainly did NOT luck into the Clipper idiots giving him SGA + a billion first round picks for Paul George.

So much in your and probably 60 other takes on LG that Rob is just luckiest GM ever that I disagree with but just this part … wow. Everyone hopped up on do it now Rob … compete this year!! So older and declining DFS coming off who knows when surgery rehab to get back to himself finally THIS season, and then further decline from age next year and the year after … what HE wanted (probably 2 plus PO)… you seriously think is a better situation than having LaRavia instead … if you’ve seriously watched all the tape on him out there and see what HE does on the perimeter in an upward trending career? Makes no sense to me at all. Pure Rob sucks haterade IMO of course.

i've seen it suggested a few times that we could have just done DFS and ayton, but i'm not sure that ayton could have gotten a buyout down to the BAE, and i'm pretty sure we'd have had to do some other cutting (perhaps including into DFS's starting number).

one thing i'm curious about is what would have happened had DFS opted in. no centers went for the tpmle/bae that would have been any better than hayes, really. we might have been backed into a corner on a trade.

so maybe rob DID get lucky!
