For some, like me, who are “car guys,” it has nothing to do with looking “cool.” I stopped caring about that after college. It’s about the thrill of driving- speed, downshifting, overtaking on a twisty two lane road.
I’m considering replacing the car I sold back in CA with one of the most “uncool” cars you can purchase- a Miata. If I do get one, it won’t be to look flashy for my neighbors and friends. It will be because it’s relatively cheap, super lightweight and fun to drive.

my dad is a big enthusiast of the small sports car for fun driving. he had a porsche way back but his favorite was actually a honda s2000. but he couldn't afford luka cars. i just feel bad for luka because you need to get out of the city to enjoy such things, lol.

True. My buddy had a S2000 for awhile- fun little thing.
My favorites that I owned were an e46 M3 and M135i(300hp, 300lbs torque in a small package).
My Brother in Law is a Porsche air cooled engine restorer. He has a 84 911 targa, 944, 924 and 914. First time I drove a 914 was up at his house in Hood River Oregon a few years back and I loved it.

We had the original 914 with the 4 cylinder VW engine for a couple of years, loved it but then it started breaking a lot. The old Creedence Clearwater song "Stuck in Lodi" literally happened to us on a trip coming back from skiing at Badger Pass .... LOL. Trunk in front, trunk in back, the top stored in one .... what fun! Went down to a Newport Beach Porshe agency hoping to buy a regular used Porsche and instead came home with an orange 914.

I’m pretty sure all the 914s stuck with the original 4- banger.
I saw one with a 8cyl LS Crate swap at a show once. Had a wide body kit with some wide-a$$ tires in the back. “What a thing!” (Stole that quote from the great Chris Harris).

My neighbor’s son was working for a local TV station and bought a 6 cylinder 914 model. Just checked with AI.

“The Porsche 914 model that received the 6-cylinder Porsche engine was the Porsche 914/6.
Initially launched in 1969, the 914 was offered in two versions: the 914/4 with a 1.7-liter, 4-cylinder Volkswagen engine, and the 914/6, equipped with a 2.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine sourced from the Porsche 911 T.”
