I think most leave on their own and are content with still having a percentage of ownership.

Yep, and a billion dollars each!!! Not too shabby a deal, they can all invest in their futures, one way or the other.

Hell to the NO with Hurley. Guys a hack and would cry like a little girl the first time things got rough. We dodged a big bullet with him and this is coming from someone who was interested before he went on his whole media tour and then acted like child after his team got eliminated. He can’t handle the heat.

hurley comes off as one of those college coaches who thinks they can run an NBA team like a college team and achieve the same results

guy would've lost the locker room very quickly here. major bullet dodged

yeah, i've heard it and appreciate the idea, but man...what if he took it? i think we legitimately had interest, he said no, and both parties are better off for it.

Hurley used Woj to peddle a non-story into a big story and inflate his value...

Not only is it pathetic but very unprofessional from Hurley and Woj.

And I'm not sure Hurley would have even been NBA-ready. Yelling at college students who depend on you for playing time and whatever benefits they get from it is A LOT different than yelling at professional NBA adult males who have enough money to tell you to kick rocks.

Unfortunately I can’t really substantiate anything and we will never get the whole story. I’ll just again say that enough folks that I know who are plugged in have expressed legit doubts and flat out holes in that story about the whole thing that I don’t believe the pursuit was nearly as serious as Woj reported.

But I honestly am pretty optimistic about the teams future with the new ownership group and Luka so I don’t want to keep arguing about past mistakes.

It will take time to implement the changes the franchise needs but we’ve taken some real strides toward the direction I have argued for for years. We’ve got a young star and a group who won’t let money stand in the way of winning. I’m looking forward to what’s next.

i think it's jesse? either way, i think maybe jesse and joey--along with rob--will get a chance to show they can function as part of a larger team. if they can't, they'll be phased out. but why throw the baby out with the bathwater? it's possible these guys have value to the organization. it's not like we're the worst at everything--especially scouting/drafting.

Don't worry Lakers fans. The new bosses will pick the right people soon enough. Sit back and enjoy the ride. It's coming....

Hurley may be a bad example. Mostly I believe that with this new ownership and all the changes, it’ll be about providing the best for what the players and the team as a whole need and money WON’T be the issue this time. A few times the Lakers have offered people the spot it feels like they just get taken advantage of, but I don’t think that’ll be a problem. So if someone like Hurley, that gets people excited, were to be an option, I think the team gets that done EVERY TIME from now on.

this new owner will do wonders all around for the Lakers. Again, the nostalgia will stay, but it’ll be brought up to today, the Year of our Lord, for sure. :D:p
