interestingly, trey murphy has never really graded out well defensively (actually been pretty terrible the last two years). but yeah, i think it's close enough that NO wouldn't add missi without getting something back. again, though, murphy isn't a secondary creator, so now we have to go find one. people have been talking about coby white a lot...but is he good enough to be the second guy in that role on a team with title aspirations? i'm dubious. especially given we have a bunch of folks who think reaves isn't (he's much better at it than white). i don't think the wolves make that move. i don't like the knicks one at all, tbh. people don't want to pay reaves 41m but do want to pay bridges more than that? he had a bounce back year this year, but i don't trust it, tbh. i have a really hard time finding a trade i like for reaves that i think the other team would make.
I think Robinson could be had through free agency. He only makes 12M, and I don't think anyone is going to get into a bidding war over him. I think he can be had at around 14M or less. I can see us offering a FRP plus Dalton for Missi. He's still a raw prospect, so I don't think the Pelicans are in a position to demand anything more than a late rd FRP. Williams is on a 13M contract and with his injury history, I definitely think his free agent number will be lower than Robinson. Under 10M. I like Coby White replacing Luke, not Austin. He's also at 12M. I would go higher for him, up to 20M. He gives us a more dynamic offensive player, with a good handle off the bench. I'd offer Ayo the same 20M..Minnesota might be interested in making another move elsewhere. I'd offer the same 20M for CJ McCollum. He can still ball, but I don't think anyone is going too high on him, for multiple years, because he's already 35. I keep seeing 2 years , 35-40M being floated for him. Grimes is probably available for less than 20M. He's another decent young guy, but does his body of work demand some kind of big long-term deal?. I don't think so, and Phil probably isn't getting into a bidding war over him either. So I don't feel like we have to shoot for another potential star, because that guy might not be available. However if we think Watson is a good idea at 30M...I 'm pointing out, that we could get two rotation players at around the same price or up to 32-34M. Let Maxi and Luke walk , and replace them with two guys from the above. I think we got better off the bench. Now we still have our draft capital, unless we got Missi. If we went that route, we can spend more on another guard, and then look at a cheap wing like Oubre, or Thybulle, and bring in 3 guys. For a trade, I keep circling PJ Washington because he's on a longterm deal at 19M, and Vando/Jake would match salaries, allowing the Mavs to get out of that contract, while having expiring contracts to pair with Kyrie, and either save that cap space or make a big trade. Ideally..I'd try to flip a future FRP to one of the teams, that have multiple FRP in this upcoming draft...(Washington, Brooklyn or OKC? ) for an extra FRP in this draft. Then burn one on Missi and draft our own prospect. That's a prety good bench makeover, while keeping all of our core in the process. McCollum, Robinson,Washington, draft pick Missi, White, Thybulle, Washington, draft pick Grimes, Missi, Washington, Oubre, draft pick McCollum, Thybulle, Missi, Washington , draft pick. Give me any of these, bringing back, Lebron,Rui, Smart and Ayton. Then go over the cap for Austin . I'd rather keep Ayton but if it saved a few dollars, I could live with Hayes instead. That's a legit title contender. I'll leave it up to the cap gurus like Svtzr, Showtime24, Abeer, and others to work out the numbers for me! I gave you the blueprint.
