Austin Reaves Discussion: How Much Is He Worth?

And I'm not trying to hate on Reaves. I've been a staunch defender. I was saying they should have given more opportunities instead of AD and just focus on cleaning up around the rim and playing defense rather than being the automatic 1st or 2nd option on the team.

When LeBron was clearly not meshing well with Luka+Reaves, I said LeBron should step aside and let Reaves control more possessions.

I think because Reaves is homegrown and has outplayed his contract since playing for the Lakers, we try and give him more leeway to make mistakes, not always perform well, etc.,

I'd like to believe all of this changes when you're now getting paid max dollars and trusted to be the Lakers 2nd option. Because his current gameplay will not get it done. And if he's not that type of player, which there is no harm in not being one, then the Lakers should explore trade options. I wouldn't be upset at trading Reaves + Vando + Knecht for Kyrie and a combination of their players. Dallas probably wants no business trading with Lakers but Reaves would be great for their team. Kyrie's a better shooter, passer, off-ball player, and shows up to perform when it matters. Already has good chemistry with LeBron and Luka.

Like what's the excuse for Reaves horrible play against Minnesota last playoffs? He played horrible. And he largely walked away without anyone blaming him. At what point does Reaves have to show up and improve? He's going to be 28 and in his prime. This is no longer a player who needs development. Are you that guy or should the Lakers trade you for that guy or other pieces who fit better? Just saying.
