To me, it makes sense if they let Kessler go (maybe in a S&T to pick up a FRP), keep Nurkic to soak up some minutes at the 5 because JJJ doesn't want to do it full-time, but mostly go with Markkanen/JJJ at the 4/5 to close games. If it were me I would have traded Markkanen already because I'm not a big Markkanen fan, but I think the other route makes sense too. What doesn't make sense to me is playing Markkanen/JJJ/Kessler together for big minutes. I understand Markkanen has played the 3 before, but I think that lineup is just too slow-footed.

 

He is/was always our first option, which is why we tried to trade for him multiple times.

The only stuff I've read from media is that Duren was never really realistic for the Lakers.

Maybe that changes now, but we've been linked heavily to Kessler for a little bit now.

Duren for Sabonis is interesting. Gives Detroit another offensive hub, which they need. They have the athletes to mitigate some of the defensive concerns with Sabonis.
