to get jones, we'd have had to choose him over mamu. if you believe svtzr, that was a no-brainer. the other issue was timing as we could secure mamu's services without waiting out RFA. so i get why we didn't go that way.

we could have also tried to clear extra space to make a similar offer, but doing so would have required assets, and if denver matched, we'd be out those assets with no target.

Lebron always has to have an effective big. Us not having that made him really not want to play for us. You see his attempt to get AD and then choose Embidd. He was done with us. Will go to be the 4th option. But never wanted to be a 3rd option here. Not for Luka and AR.
