Why do you guys think it's childish for LeBron to prolong?

He's taking a huge salary cut. Any decision he makes is consequential to him financially because he's got businesses to run as well.

If he goes to Miami, he's saving boatloads of $ even with a vet minimum because he's got other businesses earning significant income.

If you guys were in his position knowing that this could be his last team and he doesn't want to risk being stuck on a team that underperforms and then he has to get traded, you'd take your time as well.

None of us are in his shoes. There's a lot on the line for him while it is largely meaningless to us unless he goes to a contending WC team.

If you were asked to switch cities across the coast, I'm pretty sure you'd take longer than a couple of months to decide.

both? shams is "reporting" what rich paul tells him. and rich paul isn't exactly truthful. even in this case "not waiting on anyone to do anything" could mean lots of things, imo. not waiting on specific things?

i've always thought it was cleveland, too, but i don't see how harden played along without having some serious assurances about his contract. he opted out of 42 million. if he's left just holding the bag...i just can't believe he'd risk it, tbh. my thought was they already had two numbers agreed to--one with lebron, one without (slightly higher amount), and harden would sign as soon as that was settled. if it was an S&T, feel like word would have already leaked. too many mouths would have to keep silent, right?

yeah. i'm still not 100% sure i follow the 5/150 thing (feel like i've read that it was offered by gs and shot down by turner but also that it was floated by turner and shot down by gs). and i could see why they'd choose the one year at 24m over the two, figuring they could get traded and extend to recover. the mistake, to me, was agreeing to the team option. whatever it it, he's lost a lot of money already and will likely be playing below market value next year, perhaps longer.

good news for him is that early signs indicate several teams will have space next year (as opposed to the three from this year), so he might have more of a crack at it. but that's another year you have to stay healthy and prove yourself in a new environment. next thing you know, you're schroder.

I'm feeling Miami but to have a Decision 2.0 and choose again Miami over Cleveland is insane. I can already see the memes, I think it would be an awful decision from a PR and legacy perspective.

Miami makes the most sense. It gives him the possibility to continue being the main guy and have the ball on his hands more. It also surrounds him with elite defense with Bam, Giannis, Wiggins and Davion Mitchell.
But man, he can't do it again. Right? Right???

i actually hate the fit there, tbh. not enough shooting anywhere, and any shooters they can get are going to be non-defenders at this stage in the game.

i still find it wild that with the exception of minnesota and philly that all the teams on the list require him to play sf on defense, which is not great!

 

Main guy in the sense of shot making, shot creation, especially in the clutch. Handling the ball, orchestrating the offense, that type of stuff.

But yeah shooting is an issue.
Agree with the sf thing, but would say that in Miami is less of an issue because he has Giannis and Bam behind so there are defensive schemes that can be done to protect him

I'm still at a C grade thus far on the offseason. Yeah we got younger and we got more unprovens too. We are banking on upside and potential, while locking in the bulk of the roster for 3-4 years. If things don't go as hoped; we will be stuck with minimal draft capital and some contracts that might be hard to move 2 seasons from now, with Luka's extension looming.
