Doing a podcast is nothing. Businesses adventure. JJ played basketball and served as an analyst. Being a coach and being a champion is something totally different. JJ can't get into the championship room. If JJ was more accomplished or older maybe but do you really see LeBron listening to JJ. Do you see how hard it was for Kobe to respect less accomplished coaches?

Why is it wise that we didn’t bring LeBron back? Signing him for 20m and bringing a 6m part would be better than Grimes and Mamu.

I think he just didn’t like the fact that he wasn’t the focal part of things anymore. He probably wanted to keep players like Smart, but Luka is the only one the FO will take directives from right now.

Not gonna get into specifics but there is absolutely no way he’s going back to Miami. That won’t happen. You bring up a great point about Savannah. And that’s why I bought up L.A. this was pushed by her. She likes it and it might be LeBron wanting her to shine. It’s her turn. She’s sacrificed a lot. And now to uproot back to Cleveland. She don’t want to go back to Cleveland. They done with Cleveland. I get Lebron can push that front office around and he couldn’t push around this front office. But the narrative is done. What narrative. He won there and bought a championship to Cleveland beating the 73 win warriors. Fin!!!!

To have to go back there. I know a woman who worked in Cleveland. It’s miserable up there she said. Ask Joakim.

so be it. That is not a better basketball team than the Lakers. just isn’t. The Knicks made light work of them. You think that’s changing???

I would argue the Wizards are better than them. Detroit. What makes Cleveland so good!!???

Donavan Mitchell. How many championships he win?? He’s still chasing Brunson.

Harden???? Clippers are jumping for joy they got outa that.

they have Allen and Mobley that’s it. But Mobley disappeared against the Knicks.

Hey all of yall in here celebrate Cam Carr and these Lakers. We gonna be alright.

you got two 3-Ds supporting Luka and Reaves. Carr Thiero I have the athletic black guys. Give me Kaminga if you can.

LaRavia for all it’s said had a stretch where he was on fire he just s*** the bed in the playoffs maybe he can come back.

    Knect no hope

    Vando done

and obviously we’ll resolve the Center position backing up Kessler.

Kessler is a huge acquisition he’s a mountain of a man. There is a lot he can do. Just putting these athletes and scorers around Kessler is going to be great. We are deep.

Luka Thiero Carr reaves this is so ideal. Just give me some scoring Thiero. Now we got a guy who can lock guys up on the perimeter.

the back line of Kessler. I’ll take Luka as my lead guard over anybody including Shai cause when I got shot making I’m good in the playoffs.

as we watch summer league. Get a little cocky and just tell teams we stole another one. Warriors yall didn’t draft your next Klay???

This will be a new chapter in Austin's career. Lakers believed in him and invested in him. Picked him over one of the leagues all time greats. With that expectations will be high to prove Rich Paul and doubters wrong. What he can't do is be the greatest 6 man that never was.

it was wise not to give him the player option on his contract last summer.

by pretty much every account, we tried to bring him back, and he wouldn't hear it.

i keep seeing people suggesting that he would have just taken a 15-20m offer to start out, whereas i see no indication from him or anyone else that he would have. if he was open to it, i don't know...maybe...he'd have been willing to have a meeting?

I think it's more than that . It all started with no contract extension, then it have the Austin situation where I think they wanted him off the bench or traded only to have to play behind him, the fans situation, and lakers themselves did not want him back and ready to move on.

LeBron’s fragile ego was dented after knowing the Lakers had shifted from building around him, to building around Luka and AR.
It always has been and always will be about him.
As for bringing him back so he “could put us over the top:” Nonsense. We just watched him be completely gassed after round one and had nothing left for round two.
    It’s done.
    Get over it.
He was NEVER treated poorly by our organization- we let him talk Rob into making the worst trade in Laker history and constantly added Klutch client after Klutch client.
We even brought in his son who gave us very little, since he is still developing.

what accounts are these? What I read repeatedly was there was radio silence from the front office going into the offseason, and Lebron was definitely not prioritized.

if that's true, do you think that's the way our FO should have acted towards Lebron if they wanted him to stay while taking a huge paycut?

I read we called and were told he was busy.

rich paul said we wouldn’t “annoy them” (his words)

    well, bye.

I think had lakers won or made noise in the playoffs he would have give in. The problem was it was another wasted season in his eyes. Why give sacrifice only to reward players he had to pick up slack for

nope this article says exactly what I wrote in the last page: Lebron didn't feel prioritized, so he left because of it.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/report-suggests-lakers-may-fumbled-184122366.html

and now the narrative on the forum shifted from "we should bring Lebron back" to, "we're better off without him" like our boyfriend ditched us or something... and somehow Rob again gets away with what may have been another huge mishandling.

same thing with the mental gymnastics to justify the 4-year contracts with player options, when no other team was handing them out.

I think we can be hopeful that this team will turn out ok while at the same time call out the bad decisions of this FO now, not just in 6 months with the power of hindsight.

like I said I am by no means a Lebron fan boy but the fact is he was still by far our best performer even against OKC.

    from the article

lots of framing going on. how much of a discount? might have? how was the pitch to be made if we never meet? it's baloney.

read my old posts (start last summer, when i applauded not giving him the PO and looked forward to not being under his thumb this summer).

i said i was open to him returning (on our terms) but also quite open to him leaving. some were praying for him to leave. not sure who switched. those who wanted to keep him are grumbling incessantly.

mishandled what? you really think that if he showed up with the plan that lebron was going to sign up? nope. and that's fine. but we're going to be the first team lebron didn't leave in a flaming pile of ashes, and that's something.

nobody has come out in support of these. you're making this up.

i don't know what this sentence means. that you know the future?

ok, when it turns out the players who left are old, and we're actually a pretty good team despite LOSING THE ENTIRE STARTING LINEUP OF THE TEAM THAT BEAT THE MIGHTY (injured themselves) ROCKETS, the power of hindsight will vindicate the maligned rob pelinka, conqueror of gms!

this is part of why i like to register these things early. you've been clear: we needed to kowtow to lebron and bring back the boys. i think blowing it up was the right move. pretending you know for certain how it will turn out is not really useful.

If DFS gets waived by the Hornets, would we want him on a minimum? He might just be done now with a bum ankle, but he’s Luka’s guy and we need someone of his (when healthy) archetype. But it may be a nonstarter after his beef with Rob last summer.
