I should have been more clear, I appreciate you and anyone else that shares updates and I've refreshed this page an absurd amount of times today. But I don't think it's inaccurate for me to point out that Irwin has never reported a singing or trade rumor that came to fruition. We know how passionate Lakers fans are and will run with reports: good, bad, true, or untrue. I was just trying to add that perspective in case anyone got themselves worked up over how stupid our FO is for considering such a bad deal.

I actually like the deal if it's Rui and an expiring. It's been pointed out that Rui might actually be the better player, but I think Wiggins fills a need even if his defense is overrated. Was looking at the available free agent Forwards on the market this year and it's ugly. I think a lot of the wing trade options will require us to overpay so I think this would be a happy medium if we aren't giving up the pick or Dalton.

I’m not so sure that Rui isn’t better than the Wiggins of today - and I say that as someone who was arguing he was a worthy all star in golden state just a few years ago. Rui’s the better shooter nowadays and maybe the better scorer, but I do believe Wiggins is still the better defender.

If we could swap them, I’d consider it since Wiggins balances out our team a little better. Rui is more of a 4 and we already have Lebron, DFS and Vando who can all play there. A really good outcome would be Wiggins and Ware for Rui, Knecht and Gabe plus a 1st.

again, supposedly Miami values ware highly, so I don't think they're doing ware for knecht alongside rui/Wiggins, though I agree that's what it would take for me.

Miami isn’t trading ware. Wiggins only makes sense if you have your center position solved I think that would be the goal with this deal. If you get the center figured out then you would really have a nice rounded out and balanced roster.

 

I think he can be one...in time. Leveling up to NBA competition will likely take a few years. I liked him as an option at 55, no pressure and can take time developing. In the teens, you're out of your mind. He'll get time to develop because there's 8 bigs ahead of him on the roster, but in the teens there's a certain level of pressure and expectations and international attention that won't do him any favors. I think he can be a 9th-10th man depending on development.

yeah, I just feel like to move like he does, you need to be a lot stronger. and maybe he gets there, but even then, he's a smaller Zach edey, who I think will be a backup for his career.
