Meh..maybe Garland is on the move by the trade deadline, if Lonzo can stay healthy that long. The Bulls got the better of that trade...today.

I'm not going to choose a side. Both players are garbage at this point.

One is 36 and winding down his career. The other is 28 and should be in his prime.

Good, no more talk of Lonzo to Lakers. That ship has sailed.

the ball/okoro deal may mean cleveland's letting ty jerome walk.

i get it; he had a great season in a contract year, but then was pretty bad in the playoffs, iirc. factor in their cap situation, and i'm not sure i want to meet his price.

Lakers Must Pivot to Onyeka Okongwu Amid Latest Walker Kessler, NBA Trade Rumors
    If he's better than Koloko?

"I do know the Lakers made a call to the Hawks around the trade deadline about [Onyeka] Okongwu," McMenamin told Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre (h/t Jackson Caudell of SI.com). "I think lob threat, athleticism, absolutely. In terms of being a perfect fit, maybe not. They might not get a perfect fit though."

Okongwu will turn just 25 in December, he'll have a relatively reasonable $15 million salary next season, and his skill set should complement what Dončić wants to do offensively.

The Hawks are in a position to make some moves this summer. They have a 25M trade exception from the Murray trade, and the full MLE to work with.

Called at the deadline and were told no. He's Capela's replacement. Porzingis isn't healthy enough for them to move on from Okongwu. Unless you drastically overpay, I'm fairly sure he's unavailable.

Fisch(er) Sticks .. latest from Jake

Price for Mister White (you gotta say it in Jesse's voice, yo)
Still a chance Simons is rerouted
    Jerome looking to get paid
Pistons were ready to go after Reid. Do they now pivot to Santi Aldama? We need them to net one so we can get in the Duren business.
Randle next name to reup in Minny?
    NAW has a robust market

Portis and our own DFS make the mentions

Who ? And if that no name gets almost 10 millions for season.
So Austin should be able to get at least 35 -38 ..

He said in a recent interview he wants to stay a Laker and sounds like is willing to take a little less to do it as was Caruso, and mentioned the 30M figure. Which he KNOWS he will have to step his all around game up THIS year to prove he's worth that or maybe a little more TO the Lakers.

Merrill is one of the best shooters in the league, nice contract

Getting Allen would be amazing. Great fit and really elevates the team

I won't lose my sleep if DFS walks, as long as Luka is ok with it. It opens the full MLE no?

yeah, i hear people like "but we traded three seconds for him". we buy seconds almost every year, so i'm not super concerned about that sunk cost. if we can't come to a sensible number with DFS, we should aggressively pursue the best FA wing we can find. tbh, if NAW said he'd take our MLE, i'd make that swap.

none of this means i don't want DFS back, but i'm not interested in overpaying him on his last legs.

right now, the tea leaves seem to indicate that we're not seeing eye-to-eye on a contract, as other guys are re-upping left and right.

My concerns letting him walk for nothing:

    1) Luka
    2) he was a vocal defensive leader on a team that lacked in both areas
    3) sunk cost
    4) who are we replacing him with? It's a weak class. NAW is the hot name but he's the hot name around the league. We're competing with 4-5 others for him.
