I mean, I don't like the guy, but yes, he's obviously better than Gabe or Kleber, and would make the team better, assuming no chemistry issues (which is by no means guaranteed).

I think any decently sized defensive upgrade makes us a legit championship contender (vs a tier 2 dark horse contender currently). Which is why I was advocating earlier for upping our offer for Thybulle and RW3. Brooks would have the same effect.

I'd be happy to get Thybulle and Timelord, but Portland isn't trading with us. I'd also be keen to get any of Keon Ellis, Keegan Murray, Herb Jones etc.

If Phoenix is happy to get rid of Brooks for Gabe and Kleber, they get a 3&D PG that allows Booker to slot in at SF and Green at SG. Kleber also gives them their best PF. It's probably a pipe dream, but I'd do it if it's on the table.

    Brooks improves us considerably.

Klieber is wayyyyyyy better than Kevin Love. Kevin love is on his way out of the league.

yall remember that game Klieber had against us in staples a couple years back when Luka was cooking. Klieber hit that jumper swish wet. That was all Luka.

Klieber nailed it. When he’s on he can hit.

Fat Love was Charles Barkley without athleticism.

Yeah K Love is not better than Maxi lol. At least Maxi can somewhat stay on the floor defensively.

Idk, why does KLove have a better defensive rating, D-LEBRON, DWS, and DBPM for last year and the past several years? Also more pts, rebs, & 3's in fewer minutes, and way better per 36. Most concerning thing would be the drop in minutes, but I think that's mainly just because they got Ware.

Anyway, I'm not saying that Love is great...I'm saying that Kleber is not either. Possibly, maybe probably worse, unless he has a great comeback year...to 4 years ago, not even 1 or 2, which were pretty bad also, even per 36. At least KLove had a good year in '24, and his lower production this past season can be explained by Ware.

We really need to upgrade Kleber and Vincent. Would be substantially better if we do.

This is probably true, but no matter the offer? Does Portland really say no to Knecht, Vincent, Kleber, a 2nd, AND 2 first round swaps?

I think abeer might veto that as giving up too much, but I would at least make that offer and think it would be hard for Portland to turn down, no matter how much they dislike us.

ETA: combining my previous post and this one, I guess my feeling is that I used to be optimistic about Kleber, but the more I look into it, the more I think that our backup C minutes are trash, and our backup POA defender minutes are questionable. Really want to address this issue, because that's up to 18 minutes of bad play, and that's a lot.

Portland says “no” to any offer from us because they absolutely loathe us.

I actually like Brooks. He’s the complete opposite of soft, doesn’t back down from anyone and plays solid D.
I would love to have him on this squad.

"I believe that Deandre Ayton was the Lakers' top target among centers from the first minute of free agency. I know it might have looked to some like the Lakers lost out to the Clippers on Brook Lopez and pivoted to Ayton, but that's not how it went down. Ayton and the Trail Blazers came to terms on a buyout agreement on the day before free agency officially began and the 7-foot Bahamian was instantly regarded by numerous interested teams as a virtual lock to land with the Lakers."
