I'm sorry but " dumping " Knecht in order to keep Goodwin, is terrible asset management.

Keeping a stock that's only going to give continued diminished returns (the Portland way) is even worse asset management.

Irwin (i know) said he spoke to several non-Laker people who told him at Vegas that DK isn't seen as a 1st round value anymore. Feb coming around ain't going to help that.

Has DK turned into Lonnie Walker this quickly?

If Rob pulled off this trade it would be an A+ summer

Dalton fell in the draft because he was 23 and there were concerns with his defense and long-term upside. After one season we saw…exactly that. Flashes of legit NBA-level offense, but pretty awful defense even for a rookie and not much (if any) growth between last fall and his year 2 summer league.

He’s not close to being a rotation player on a good team right now. Goodwin is better than him, frankly. I think he can still get there, but it will probably have to be somewhere else. Somewhere that can afford to let him play through mistakes. Portland has a bunch of athletes, they could use someone like him to help open up the floor.

The version of Kleber that could be useful as a backup 5 hasn’t existed for like 3 seasons now.

yeah, I was a pre draft fan, but we’re not the right place and time. His value is just going to slip further here, imo.

still think he can be a bojan bogdanovic type.

I think the writing was on the wall with the LaRavia signing that they were done with Knecht. The summer league performance or lack of was probably the death knell. Not the same guy since the rescinded trade for Williams. I think both sides need to part ways. It's just a matter of when, now or closer to the deadline?

Would this deal essentially be Knecht and an expiring for Goodwin and 2nds? If so, I think I pass and try for a better trade. It's a gamble, but hopefully something can get done. Rob has delivered so far this offseason, hope there's 1 more move left.

This, however, is exactly the type of trade I would be looking for. Would be near ideal out of the remaining possibilities, although even this move may still be too pie-in-the-sky unlikely.

The summer league isn't some fool proof measuring stick of a player's value either. I wouldn't cry if we could flip Dalton for a usable asset. Yet we are supposed to be leaning into player development now. Some guys take a minute, to find their groove in the League, the kid has some talent IMO

hope they can at least work out a trade to get something in return instead of just dumping goodwin

guessing kleber/vincent would be involved, but i'd prefer to keep gabe. he shot well in the playoffs

Yeah I was angling Gabe and Maxi, but those two guys are worth the roll of the dice. I'm still holding out hope for Mathurin or Coby White too. You never know tho, Rob specializes in out of left field moves, he may have his eyes on someone else.
