...so Jared Cook visiting Da Raidezz and just saw on NFL Total Access that Jamaal Charles could end up in Oakland. Meh.
Charles hasn't done a thing in the past two seasons. I'd have to hear the contract details and the plan, but he's 31, with 400 yards since 2014. Similarly for Jared Cook, from a passing POV, I don't think he's an upgrade over Walford. If he's coming in to supplant one of our guys, I guess he's at least an upgrade over Rivera.
Dear Reggie, That Zach Brown guy? Please dont let him leave Oakland without a contract. Pretty please.
we let Malcolm walk and replace him with a pro-bowler? and DJ Hayden is gone? please make it happen already
done deal Raiders signing ex-Packers tight end Jared Cook Oakland is adding to an already explosive offense. The Raiders are set to sign former Green Bay tight end Jared Cook, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the situation. Cook also drew interest from the Seahawks and Vikings after the Packers signed Martellus Bennett as his replacement. It's quite possible that Cook misread his market after emerging as Aaron Rodgers' secret weapon last season. Due to reach age 30 next month, Cook was ranked No. 34 overall on Around The NFL's list of the top 101 free agents. An excellent fit in Derek Carr's aerial attack, Cook is an exceptionally athletic seam-stretching tight end. Although Clive Walford was drafted to fill that role, he failed to consistently gain separation in a disappointing second season. After spending the first seven years of his career attempting to corral errant throws from scattershot passers in Tennessee and St. Louis, Cook is moving from one Pro Bowl quarterback to another. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...aiders-signing-expackers-tight-end-jared-cook
Raiders add TE Jared Cook on a two year deal, worth up to $12.2M. First year fully guaranteed. Cook posted a 79.0 PFF rating last year in 478 snaps. Rivera, whom he'll replace, posted 62.8 in 338 snaps. I'm not sure he's better than Walford, but he's a big upgrade over Rivera.
...played under Downing in Buffalo so some familiarity there. When I first saw him play, I thought I was seeing a Doug Williams clone.
Sherman would get murdered in Oakland. He gets away with so many PI plays it isn't funny. Put him in Silver and Black and he looses that Legion of Boom Mystique that protects him. Could he adapt to not getting preferential treatment when he comes to "throw the flag on em" Raiders? Im not so sure
We just lost one of our best special team players and a key downfield blocker BTW, thinking of running back options, I'm really hoping we go after Christine Michael. He started off hot last season, with 107 rushes, 446 yards, and 5 rushing TDs with 19 receptions 92 yards, and a TD receiving, in his first 7 games. I don't know that he's a bell cow, but we don't need that. He's a 10 carry a game guy who has very little wear and tear. I think he's been at or near NFL minimum salary all three seasons he's played, earning less than $1M over the past three seasons. We could take a flier on him for 600K and see what he has to offer.
Four years for Holmes in the Silver and Black yet he has not distinguished himself to earn a starting nod but I do agree he is solid on our special teams. The physical attributes are there for a prototype wide-out so maybe he breaks out in Buffalo. Michael is a decent back but he is not a home run threat at the position. He does run hard but he has been changing teams a lot so there's some talent issues there. I still think McKenzie is looking to draft a standout.
Jon Condo has been brought back. That's good news. Raiders also add Jelani Jenkins, LB. Jenkins is 25 this season; he had an injury-riddled last season, but he had two solid seasons before that. PFF had him rated "average" heading into last year. He's pretty quick, especially for a guy who's 6', 240 pounds, and he repped 27 times at the Combine. He also has a history with Norton. http://www.raiders.com/news/article...-Jenkins/13494db1-d6ed-4b7f-bf58-8abf579be487
