i mean, if wood's really out for the whole year, why didn't we just apply for the medical exemption before the 15th? you're telling me we just now figured out he was fully dead? or that the hope of him coming back was greater than the roster exception? or am i misunderstanding in that the exemption doesn't cover the apron/tax stuff?
I think we thought we would trade him. I also imagine it's not easy to apply that exemption as it's very rare and if it was easier I'm sure many teams would use it to extend their playable roster Anyway, we really should give a standard contract to Goodwin. He's quite a solid backup and gives us what we need. Maybe we can stretch someone? It helps cut the cap this year I guess, although making it slightly bigger for the future. Not sure how I feel about that just to add an additional backup C/Goodwin, but it would be only around 1M more or so, with the cap increase it could be almost unnoticeable. Maybe we ask Bron if he wants to take 1mil less next year just to add another big and have a slightly better chance this year. His window is short and maybe he accepts it If we can only have 1, I think we've to go with the C and hope Cam/Knecht can do a solid job as Goodwin been doing. Funny how we traded Cam and Knecht, got Goodwin and improved in that position. Great job by Rob really, he's really good at the deadline
I'd find a way to keep Goodwin. I think he's shown enough on both ends of the floor to justify it. He is another player that adds toughness and ability to do dirty work out there. I don't want us to lose him particularly since none of our center options seem that great.
If he ends up signing with another team, I’m going to be pissed. He plays very solid D and doesn’t try to be something he’s not. He’s really a younger version of Gabe, albeit by just two years. I’m really surprised that he hasn’t stuck with a club by now.
Buha and Irwin both said similar to Woike, the team likes him a lot. We'll likely milk all the two-way eligibility out of him, makes it much easier to navigate financially. BUT yes, he's been extremely impressive. If he can maintain a baseline anywhere close to what we've seen in this past two games, he's a rotation level player. He should eat all of Shake's minutes, any Cam minutes, and DK minutes until he gets his head right or unless he's on a heater. He reminds me a lot of Josh Hart and that's mana from heaven (right, Rob?) right about now.
Of all the guys taking away minutes from - Godwin losing minutes is tough. I get it he's on a 2 way but they need someone to fill those Max assigments. Gabe is small, Vando/DFS are huge. Need an inbetween go to defender
Yeah, I forgot about him, he must stay in the rotation. He should play tonight and we will surely see a difference
Good rebounder, hustles, can handle a bit and he's decent defensively. He struggles to keep his man in front of him with certain matchups, but even on those matchups he's better on both sides than Shake.
Is it possible hypothetically to at the deadline for the final playoff roster release Shake and one of Morris or Len and add Jemison and Goodwin …. in that order of importance IMO … but add both of them?
yeah, i keep asking these questions because i'm not sure how the prorating works and how late you can sign. sounds like len ate up half of the 1.6 million of wiggle room we had. the question is whether the prorating can be dragged long enough so that each guy only got 400k, right? len's number dropped by 12k in one day (is it games or days?). so, if we wait 30 days to sign guys, does is save something like 300k? or is it games? if so, that's not enough, right? we definitely have room for one more, though.
Yeah he closed the last game too. He's solid, he's ahead of Knecht. Pretty sure he's the one getting the last spot
