Raptors traded for Kawhi in 2019 and won a ring.
We got AD in 2020 and won a chip.
Bucks got Jrue in 2021 and won it all.
GSW added Wiggins in 2022 and won the O'Brien.

But in 2023: MIN adding Gobert, CLE adding Spiderman, and ATL adding Dejounte will not have paid off, looks like.

The biggest "add" still to be decided here would be KD. Gawd, I want PHO to lose! Hate them with the fierce heat of 1000 Suns.

Watched ATL come back in Boston and beat the C-Bags on Trae's 3 with 2 secs left. What was that? 35 feet? Man, BOS made some stupid plays when they thought they had the game in the c-bag. They play D a lot like MEM does: they will punch you in the groin, too. I despise the C-Bags.

Without Kawhi, Russ had to come up big for the Clips, but he had a game I've seen sooo many times before, with us: 3 for 18; 1 for 6 from downtown; 5 turnovers. He's where he should be: out of the playoffs.

Gawd, I'm soooo rooting for DEN to knock off PHO. Series starts SAT in DEN.

 

i think denver has a better chance against phx than most think. kcp and bruce brown can make booker work for points, and gordon can make durant work, too. on the other hand, i don't think phx has anyone who can guard jokic or murray. if mpj can make it through the series, i think denver can win.

 

Completely agree, I'm completely not buying the hype around the Suns. Since when is it enough to get enough guys who can score a lot of points on the team to win? No disrespect to KD and Booker , but as you mentioned, who's going to defend Denver's main guys? Besides, with the minutes they've been playing, I expect them to start dropping like flies sooner rather than later. They are nothing more but the current version of the most recent Nets' and Clippers' superteams. A lot of hype, not nearly enough cohesion, team balance and defense.

and the suns' erection for the lakers is pretty hilarious to me. they know they'd have lost to us if AD didn't get hurt that year, and it just eats at them all day every day. never seen a team so butthurt about winning a series.

Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Sunday for failing to participate in team postgame media availability. Here’s what you need to know:

• Brooks refused to speak with reporters after Memphis’ losses in Games 4 and 6 to the Lakers.
• The 27-year-old made headlines throughout the series for his trash talk, particularly his prodding of LeBron James, whom Brooks called “old” after Game 2.
• Brooks was ejected from Game 3 after being given a flagrant foul for striking James in the groin.
• The Lakers eliminated the Grizzlies with a 40-point Game 6 win Friday.

• Game 1, Grizzlies lost: Brooks spoke postgame and said he’s hurting for Ja Morant, who injured his hand.
• Game 2, Grizzlies won: Brooks, unprovoked, calls James “old,” “tired” and says he’s not as good as he used to be. It’s on now.
• Game 3, Grizzlies lost: Brooks, ejected for punching James in the crotch, declined specific interview requests from me and from ESPN — security leads him out of the arena (in Los Angeles).
• Sunday off day: Brooks addressed not being suspended and said the media and fans portray him as a villain. He also said everything he said about James was true.
• Game 4, Grizzlies lost: Brooks and Morant skip out on media. Brooks had a miserable game, blew one help assignment on James and James went straight through him for the dagger bucket in overtime.
• Game 5, Grizzlies won: He spoke and vowed to “keep shooting.”
• Game 6, Grizzlies lose: The series ended. Brooks, a looming free agent, is fined from the locker room and hallway in Los Angeles before we even get there.

Backstory
Brooks averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for the Grizzlies in 2022-23, who finished the year as the Western Conference’s No. 2 seed.

Since being drafted No. 45 in the 2017 NBA Draft, Brooks has started 318 games for Memphis and developed a reputation as a hard-nosed defender.

He struggled in the series against Los Angeles, averaging 10.5 points on 31.2 percent shooting from the field and 23.8 percent from 3. He scored 10 points on 11 shots in Game 6.

i wasn't kidding when i said this guy may have lost 40 million dollars in the past couple weeks. maybe more. i thought someone was going to throw 20+ per at him in a multi-year deal just for "culture/presence/intangibles". and he just blew that part up by being a little punk. the failure to be accountable was just unbelievable, too. at least ja said "yeah, i said that stuff, and now i get to live with it". brooks just ghosted. not impressed.

between these antics, his typically bad play on offense, and that stupid piece about him a few weeks ago in which he leans way too heavily into the villain role, he's done nothing for himself.

and this is great, btw. we don't need more pat beverleys in the league. we need less. the more other guys see this strategy fail, the better the product will be.

And it's not just this post-season, his numbers against GS last year were brutal too

He's not in a position where he can afford to be giving away money due to fines cause this summer's market isn't going to be what he's expecting.

Barnes: That card game! CP3 & Blake cheated me on a big hand, I punched a window, broke the first layer, bloodied my hand up!
