NOOO Has anyone here forgotten just how rare Luke is? THE top 3pt ace in the league who DIDN'T forget how to do that OR shrink in the white hot spotlight of playing for the Lakers plus is thrilled (Kobe factor) to be a Laker, smart as hell out there on the floor and multi-skilled enough it's obvious to be a legitimate high quality backup PG on top of all that! That is a hell of a lot more rare than what Tony Bennett and crew should be able to come up with for 3&D way less expensive candidates in the draft or languishing on other teams, plus developing our own to add to that .... in Thiero. Mark Walter didn't build this Dodgers juggler knot by letting obvious keeper talent leave his teams once he had them unless he could get better players at doing the same thing.
This guy. It's so rare for a shooter to come to LA and deliver. 95% of them wash up or get the yips. But to not only have one deliver on the big stage but to bring so much more to the table than just being a Korver type. #2 on the call sheet right now and he turned in a 27 point game. Rob better not f*** this up. Not too shabby
I actually think we can get some internal growth from his next year. He should gun for the most shots off the bench and I can him putting up 12 pts / 4 assists with higher usage. That's really valuable as the backup PG - I definitely want to bring him back on the room exception.
I (and most others) were wrong about his defense. It's actually half way decent. I (and most others on the board) and probably all of his coaching staff say the same thing that they used to say with Nash (and Nash says about himself now), he should/should of shot more. Something that probably no-one anticipated was his playmaking ability. Which has been a pleasant surprise and something I'd like to explore more of if he is here next year. Late career resurgence for Luke, like Nash!
He got attacked against Dallas. They were specifically going at him. But he was decent on game 1, let's see how it is in the playoffs. If he can hold his ground and not be targeted it's a massive win
