Hoop heads will be able to watch the game on their tube if they have a cable provider that carries NBA League Pass. Systems such as DirecTV, Dish, AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner and Cox have to make business decisions on whether they will cooperate with the NBA. Fans will be able to use the option on broadband, tablets and mobile devices. Will the NBA on your Apple watch be far away? NBA League Pass, which came onto the scene in 1994, will remain at $199.99. In the past, fans could only buy all out-of-market games for the season. This year the NBA is letting fans buy a team package where those living outside the franchise’s primary market can buy all the teams games for $119.99."
Wow. That's a pretty interesting deal there that has potential to change the game for really all sports providers. This is great for online gamblers, the price point is great for providers, and the product has a chance a a wider audience who doesn't want to pay for 200.00 off the bat. I like it.
The Ballstreams site that lakerswiz turned us onto seems to be the much better deal, but it's good they are looking into additional options than the archaic model they've been using.
NB4 Dish refuses to participate in this proposition. Awesome, awesome idea though. A**holes should have done this while I was in the Bay Area. Albeit those were our dark years (that's right, past tense)
As one who watches every single game the five team option works best for me. I honestly don't really care to spend $200 to watch teams I really don't care to watch.
I did LP for two years when I was in Tallahassee, but that was when my wife worked for a certain company that got me a 50% discount. Now I listen to game free on ESPN Radio online.
Really? I did that option for one year when I was in the Bay. I hated it....my stream would lag often enough to irritate me and so many games were blacked out due to national coverage. My biggest peeve was that they cut off the stream before the post-game show. You'd think after paying up they'd extend coverage for another 30 minutes or so. I get it, media monopolies and all but if I'm paying for a team's games I probably want the pre/post coverage too.
Yeah I agree it used to be bad, but the last couple of years have improved a bit. Still not perfect; there's still issues and what not, and unfortunately there is a delay between the actual broadcast and what you catch on your device which makes it hard participating in game day chat because everyone catches the big play and reacts to it before you actually get to see it. The blackouts that annoyed me the most were the ones that were on NBA TV. I could catch the other games with my cable package but since I didn't have NBA TV at the time, it was really annoying. You would think any games on that channel should be included. And you're right, post game shows should be included. I will give them credit for expanding to different platforms for watching such as tablets, gaming consoles, and Roku and such. And like I said they are improving. I will admit though since their integration there have been issues linking accounts to all the devices, but complain enough and they do compensate you. But yeah despite all that I prefer that option.
