JHS scores 19 in 23 mins with 5 of 9 from 3 as Oubre/Maxey-less 76ers beat DAL. Rumors have it he's been sneakin' some beef jerky before warmups. Stay tuned.
J H-S got a wide open midrange look to win the game for PHI tonight, but he missed and it went into OT and the 76ers lost, despite being up 78-57 at halftime in HOU. I texted J H-S's nutrition coach an hour before the game and he told me his pregame meal was rice and beans and arugula, "with those pickled beets he loves so much." I asked, "So...no meat of any kind?" He scoffed and said I should know better: "The Hood is clean, man. He's clean. No meat." I thought of that as he got the wide open look to win it in regulation. Shouldda snuck some of Grimes's beef fajitas. Stay tuned.
wrong guy, same situation--i think THT is playing in turkey or something. yeah, even with how bad he was for us, i figured he'd at least get a sniff from someone as a project. everyone just said hell no. yeah, big whiff. i repeat that basically outside the lottery (and even late lottery) the draft is really unreliable. we got spoiled because our scouts nailed a bunch of late-first and early second round picks for a while. you're bound to have a bad one, and jhs was that. i wanted podz that year, and i was apparently right to want him. this pick obviously hurt more because the next three guys taken all seemed better at the time (ironically, only whitmore hasn't definitively proven he's better since). anyway, i just hope we learned a lesson from it. what lesson i can't be sure because we won't know exactly how we screwed this one up so badly. my external thought was that we were hellbent on trading the pick and thus hadn't approached it as seriously in terms of scouting. but whatever it was, let's not do that again.
crazy how he still hasn't caught on anywhere. not the d league, not europe, not even china. and he even showed some flashes of potential late last season with philly even THT is playing in turkey last i checked
JHS got chewed by expectations of a first rounder, if he went undrafted, as he should have been, my boy will be two way player right now and reach his full potential
yeah, there are players who have shown less and hung on for much longer, imo. he was a victim of circumstance (in addition to just being neither ready nor very good in the first place). you wonder if he stays in college for 4 years and comes out as an UDFA, does he have a better chance at an nba career? it also seems like he may have been depressed, imo. not great timing when you're trying to start a career in a pretty unforgiving setting. i just keep expecting to hear his name pop up in the g league or overseas, and i've seen nothing. it's like he's working at a grocery store or something.
