Well, to be fair, Ayton’s talent is undeniable. Even those who detest the Lakers and have no respect for him acknowledge that he possesses “$1M talent” and “$0.02 motor.” Everyone is aware of his capabilities. The real question is: will he finally demonstrate the motivation to live up to the expectations of being the Prince That Was Promised?

That's OK yuk it up. I was early all over AR's and Max's and Rui's jocks and am going to be right about Ayton, LaRavia, Bronny and Thiero.

Yeah .... NO. There were and are a whole lot more "wait and sees" around here on those same guys and that's fine too.

hey go all in on all the underachievers, if any of them actually hit down the road, you can be the guy who knew it all along and everyone will forget about the ones you missed!!!

I remember at Phoenix that his teammates were all over him during the playoffs. I don't think it was because of his numbers, which were fine. It was his impact. Stuff he missed. Effort at the right times. Having a dawg in him when they needed to turn up the heat. And that was coming from Durant. If KD is giving you tough love, what does that say?

I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic, but sounds to me like there will be times we are frustrated as all heck with certain things in the guy's game. Overall, a massive upgrade, but since we have seen all time talent/effort up close for decades on end, I'm sure he'll get the AD treatment x 5. Brace thyself. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

But guys who could be all time great centers don't just get bought out without the team getting compensation in return besides just saving money. I'm not going to get carried away with this guy.

It’s all relative right. Ayton on 35million with a low motor is a problem. Ayton playing 20-28 minutes a night in the playoffs on 8 million per is a huge improvement on what we just had.

Even if he doesn’t put anything together and just continues to be who he’s always been, he’s the best big aside from AD we’ve had since Pau.

I’ve been right there with you regarding Castleton, AR, Max(we disagreed on him reaching All Star label) Rui, and Bronny.
I really like THT, but would not have picked him over Caruso.
I was also preaching patience with JHS, but turned out to be wrong.
I wanted Huff to get more of a chance here, but was wrong about Pippen Jr.
I like LaRavia’s potential, but need to see more of him. Same with Thiero.
Ayton is a “prove it for an entire season” case for me.

I never claimed Max was going to be an “all star” formally but it was some level am not recalling the wording now probably approaching that “level” of play in his prime with his complete package of being a great athlete and 2 way player. Just remember you were a considerably lower on him “comparatively” at that late point in time last season when he was starting to blow up before the trade.

Good to have the extreme positivity to counterbalance the negative Nancie’s of the world. We need all types.

Totally agreed. I think it's a breath of fresh air to be honest. The offseason is for the optimists with hope springing eternal, the regular season is for the pessimists where any loss is the end of our season and the playoffs is for the masochists who love the pain.

    Yeah me too.

Except it was a shot in good humor I didn’t agree with and laid out why I feel I’m batting a really good average out there with the early calls as opposed to the safe takes. I thought Castleton would improve and he didn’t like I thought it might come together for Knecht by the time the playoffs finally got here, but who knew he would be that slow with picking up the basics.

You said he was going to be “near All Star” level and I disagreed.
He’s a good role player now and bummed we had to give him up in the Luka deal.
