Lakers gotta resign this man and put him on the roster officially. Good insurance policy. His game will fit the playoffs because he's a gritty defender who hustles. Not saying he is Alex Caruso but he provides that same role for the Lakers. Would love to see him and Hayes get a long-term deal this offseason.
He’s really growing on me. I keep waiting to see some reversion to a G-League looking play, mistake or getting abused by guys on offense but he just keeps playing solid like a legit NBA player who belongs out there. And yeah he’s damn tough and decently effective like Gabe (but bigger) on POA D and his lateral speed to go with the good strength. Someone mentioned Josh Hart type player a few weeks ago and yeah he’s in that zip code maybe at some point.
I hear ya! I kept thinking, This guy is too good to be found money lying around that we just picked off the sidewalk. He'll regress to some G-league lifer level player soon. This is just too good. His defense is great. I believe that. But he can make shots too? I'm now a believer. Caruso-ish. Not as good, but in that general area. Which is easily good enough for me. Sign this guy. Pay him and get his mind off all that. C'mon Rob: we need Goodwin. He gave Booker fits. He's a keeper.
It's like if you give a relatively young NBA player some playing time with a good team around them, they'd improve. This was more for the Jax thread, but works here as well. Sorta. Zorro is 26, so...
i know we're thin at center, but he absolutely has to be converted to a standard deal that extends through next year, ASAP.
he is on AR/Luka timeline too, age wise. If this persists, we won't be able to find a better PG/SG backup duo than him and Gabe.
He only can play 5 more games as a 2 way contract , decision is coming soon Per Pincus article https://substack.com/home/post/p-158344491
Can’t imagine we let him walk with all the praise he’s gotten from JJ and the team and I’m all for it. I’ve been a fan of this pickup from the jump and nothing has changed my mind.
And it will be Cam first on the release docket. Will there be a 2nd. Hopefully screw hurt feelings and promises and its Len so we can keep Shake and Kieff around.
I like that he's aggressive on offense. Other defensive 3 and D types hesitate (DFS, Vando do this when they've missed a shot) but this guy is aggressive even after a missed shot. Even if he passes up a shot, he'll try to get the ball into paint and finish inside. The combination of this with the fact he's smart enough not to take dumb shots or thinks he's something he's not is a big positive. Whoever mentioned the Josh Hart comparison I like it - Hart is a freak rebounder but he does play like him on offense and defense.
He has absolutely nothing to lose, he's playing with no fear. You have to respect that, perhaps we can start to create, our own version of the Heat's, knack for finding undrafted gems.
