Before, and I'll timestamp it just for you. Do you know why? Because I've listened to enough Lakers Exceptionalism and LFR pods to identify and know what to look for in assistants. Or I could just rely on a random poster on a board (you for instance) who are able to articulately state your positions but be wrong most of the time. I'll leave it for the guys who work as consultants in the industry and the dude who is employed by the Lakers. I'll relay the info here, additionally. You're more than welcome to "like" it, too. You're the best @LTLakerFan
I wanted Vogel to stay and get a fair shake. I wanted them to sell the team. Sig. Plus, I didn't say anything about Ham coaching abilities. Too bad he won't have the chance to exhibit them this year.
Also.... this: He is either a damn lier or is delusional. He followed this up by saying that Brick will have to defend. God save us all. Either way -- we are doomed.
feel like he was careful with his wording there. "best players league has seen" implies past tense, imo--or at least does not necessarily imply present tense. "still a ton left in the tank" can mean a whole lot of things, but the simplest interpretation is that he's not finished playing basketball, imo, not that he's not finished as a star.
Or the shock of his next contract … probably taxpayer mid level if that. That IS the ONE thing we have going for us. If he’s a cancer this year for any reason or repeats with same sh***y performance all around, after how the NBA saw him play last year, not many teams are going to want to pay him much of anything. So … in effect the “contract year” syndrome. If we’re talking about the same guy …. who’s RB?
this was sort of my point. i think he's speaking effectively to two audiences. i actually saw someone on a mavs board state (probably accurately) that of all the albatross contracts (wall, tobias harris, etc.), russ was the best actual player and advocated picking him up for that reason. again, attaching assets to dump him is stupid, and i'm glad we haven't done it. it's one of the few reasons i'm holding onto hope for the current regime, tbh. s***. i wanted him as the lead assistant. smart move by milwaukee.
It makes sense why wouldn’t take lead assistant role here when he could be that at the bucks - much less risk. We know the bucks will be running for the top seed in the east and competitive. He just bides his time for a head coach gig. Whereas if he comes here and we flame out, he’ll have to start over paying his dues as an assistant.
when it wasn't immediate, i lost heart. but that doesn't mean we can't bring someone in with some good ideas. fingers crossed.
Jazz is the last opening right? They should hire Vogel and then Stotts will come here for the lead assistant spot.
i'd be surprised if stotts lands here. just doesn't look great after interviewing for the head spot. he'll take a year off or do a guest gig at a current glamor spot. wonder if he'd go back to dallas given that kokoskov took off. more likely he takes a sabbatical.
