" Sophisticated grasp of in-game strategy and deep knowledge of the game of Basketball " " toughness and competitive edge to all we do." Gotta love all that. Go Darvin!!! Welcome to the family.
I wonder how his “No nonsense” and “hard-working” approach will mesh with Westbrick’s game? I see fireworks in the future if Russ is still on the team come training camp.
I think I’m actually finding myself more excited about Ham than I would have been for Snyder. But the timing of Snyder stepping down is definitely interesting. You don’t just make a decision like this out of the blue, he’s had to have been leaning towards stepping down from the Jazz for a while. And he also had to have known that if he made this decision sooner, he would have been at the top of the list for our vacancy. So while I was initially skeptical about the reports of Snyder being so turned off by the way we treated Vogel, I think this now confirms it. He did NOT want this job at all. I hope the FO takes this into consideration and continues to work on treating Ham better than they did Vogel.
I wonder if it means that A) they're not splitting up the pair and he doesn't want the drama and thinks that group has gone as far as it can. B) They are breaking it up and he doesn't want to be there for a rebuild. But agreed, he didn't want to be asked about it or go through our interview process.
i don't see why snyder wouldn't have stepped down just so he wouldn't have to be considered for the lakers job if that was the case, he could have easily just turned the lakers down immediately
Has Pop been signed for next year? Isn't that where a lot of speculating has Snyder's next HC job being .... San Antonio?
yeah, i feel like snyder didn't want any of this, and i'm not sure that would have worked. he seems like a good successor to pop in SA. i like that we were decisive with ham this time. imagine waiting, having ham go to charlotte, then having snyder turn us down to take a vacation. i think we did it right.
Couple assistants we thought might be available are being considered. Wonder how quick Ham is going to be filling out his staff. Does he wait for the Utah and Charlotte situations so there's still better options for lead assistant? If not, I think Steve Clifford is the hire for lead assistant. One of the Lakers pods mentioned that Clifford tried bringing Ham over to be his assistant in Charlotte when Cliff got that job, indicating they've remained close over the years. Some Ham stuff from Eric Nehm (Bucks beat writer) when he appeared in Jovan Buha's pod... -Ham knows everyone and is very friendly - On the flip side, he's a big physical guy who is not to be F'ed with - Bucks offense has been about running and shooting, pace and space. Jenkins took that to an 11 when he went from Milwaukee to Memphis. Wonders how that would work with Bron's more deliberate pace. - Defensively both Milwaukee and Jenkins in Memphis have valued the rim protecting C. Having functionality there has allowed Antetokounmpo and Jackson to roam and strive. Thinks that might be where he sets AD up to succeed and would allow Bron to play free safety. Not sure how Ham can get any of that done with this roster. Really wish we could get Turner and Hield from Indy. That addresses both of those things in one swoop.
pop's contract is up after next season could definitely see snyder being his successor, unless the plan is to have someone from within the organization succeed him. maybe becky hammon?
