I don't think it makes sense for LeBron to go to the Lakers. He would be the best player ever in a Lakers uniform and that is crazy!
2 things don't make sense. 1. Why wouldn't the Lakers want a player that would be the best player in a Lakers uniform? 2. He'd probably be 4th. When he gets to the 5 club (Kareem (6x), Magic, Kobe) with the Lakers, he can call Jordan to reconsider his decision.
Lakers want him, but I don't think it makes sense for LeBron. I'm not talikng about rings, I'm talking about talent.
Sure Lebron's talented, but come back when he scores 38,387 points talented, or has 138 triple doubles, or scores 81 in a game, and maybe I'll agree.
Those stats are great but I tend to look more at advanced stats when determining how good a player is. LeBron is second all time in VORP and PER and first in +/-.
It only makes sense if he brings someone with him. The Cavs are a mess and imploding before our eyes. The Warriors have a shelf life. If the Lakers are able to grab LeBron and Paul George to pair with their rising talent, it makes sense. LeBron wouldn't come here by himself of course.
Yes, he was a very efficient player and contributed to a lot to his teams, there's no denying that. But to say Karl Malone Kevin Garnett and Barkley would rank above Kareem based on those "advanced stats" are quite telling of the weight of those stats when discussing "talent".
I agree. But I think that George is not enough. And the fit with Lonzo and Randle and the rest of the team is questionable.
Believe me this isn't a shot at you, but anyone that thinks the +/- stat is a good tool to decide how good a player is is an idiot.
O fcourse those are not the only important stats. Win shares are also important, rings, MVPs count too etc. We have to see the whole picture. But there's no technical answer for this debate. I just think he's probably the second best player ever.
MVP count is debatable. It's an award that is voted for by the league and media. And that's your opinion of Lebron. But I'm going to have to agree with the first best player ever's opinion on even just Kobe and Lebron.
I do not question Lonzo's fit with LeBron for the simple fact that Lonzo will fit with anybody. He doesn't hold the ball long enough to piss anyone off and his greatest attribute is his passing so he wants to help people anyway. Whether Lonzo is a star or not is important, but I wouldn't say he is a "fit" issue. Randle is not guaranteed to be here past this season, Ingram is more of the "fit" concern, but even he is a basketball player and can change positions easily to fit around LeBron. If/when LeBron leaves, where does he go that gives him a better team, equal money, and equal platform?
Ah advanced stats. The tool invented by guys who wanted to make up some way to show Kobe isn't actually that great or clutch because anyone watching him with their eyes could see he was and it drove them crazy. Looking at John Hollinger, Henry Abbott, Tom Haberstroh and Pablo Torre here. Pablo called LeBron the greatest player ever on PTI the other day, possible slip of the tongue, and said the Kobe vs LeBron debate was long over as if that's a fact. Millennials...
