Was caving in to the dark side and starting to listen to the LeBron's a great thing Lakers have to have him message. Then boom back to reality and what he brings with him when he loses interest or his 2 year deal is up ..... Cleveland circus Exhibits A, B, C, D
I think as Lebron starts to lose media darling status that we will continue to hear more stories like this. Just a guess.
No chance at all for locker room dissension and or resentment when our guys get a load of LBJ's ring chasing act blowing into town with the dirty looks on the court and all the blame when things go wrong and none of the credit from all of Media when we win. Paul George FIRST and any other great players other than LBJ or bust. :Headbang:
My dream scenario is we get PG-13, save the rest of our cap space and then snag Klay. Not sure if it gives us a better chance at a ring than getting Lebron (it might due to the fact that it weakens the Warriors significantly), but I'd feel much cleaner about it. If we get Lebron and win a ring, it almost feels like we'd be one of those sleazy loan officers back in the mid 2000s. Was what we were doing legal? Yes. Were we f---ing homeowners (and the entire economy) over? Definitely. But hey, we got lots of the monies.
yea kinda makes he have 2nd thoughts now with Lebron, I dont like Westbrook either but if he was willing to come with PG13, I'd rather get those 2 than James and PG
Me neither. I want to win rings. If Lebron gets us rings, I want him. But if there is another path that gives us an equal chance of winning them, I'd rather take that path. But in the end, I want to win rings, and at the moment, LBJ + PG-13 seems like the quickest and best chance. You're right that the story shouldn't change anyone's mind one way or the other as anyone who remotely pays attention to the NBA knows this is who this guy is. But the story does reinforce the idea that winning with Lebron will cost us a small part of our souls.
I understand. There was a time when I thought, "we're the Lakers we need to win with dignity" or some such thing, but at this point? Give me LeBron. F*** it. I don't care. I want to win a ring and a lineup with LeBron/George is scary. Put around them some talented kids and we're really in business. I genuinely think LeBron/George plus one or two of Lopez/KCP/Randle along with our kids and whatever vet. min. we can come up with is a team capable of competing with anybody in the NBA right now. I said it last week or something, but if we don't get LeBron, I'm not going to cry about it. I'll be disappointed because it'll mean we're not as competitive as we could be, but as long as we get Paul George, I'm good. I think with Paul George added to the roster we have now (assuming we re-sign everyone), we'll be a really good team within a couple years. I don't know if we're contenders, but we're a damn good team.
Here's a hypothetical. Let's say we sign LBJ and PG-13 and we win 3 rings with them and a couple of our kids. Would you rather have that or win only 2 rings (still enough to pass the C Bags) by signing PG-13 with Randle and KCP blossoming...basically doing it with our homegrown talent?
