So back to LeBron news... He's holding them hostage and then leaving them in the summer in a completely brutal power play from LeBron to Gilbert.
By the way, just for the sake of documenting my stance, I wanna say that although I am very pro-Lebron, I think George is the big target in free agency. If we can only sign one of them, I go for 28 year old Paul George over 33 year old Lebron. But together, I think both of them could really do something special for the franchise. It's possible that Paul George next year might be the best player Lebron's ever had as a teammate.
I love it. I may use my LeBron "hate" to bring stuff back into balance around here, but one thing I do admire about him is his push to put the power into the players' hands. I appreciate that he doesn't talk about other players' money unless it's to congratulate them. He's been all about players getting paid crazy high numbers because why shouldn't they if the cap allows it. I'm also all for him screwing over an owner like Gilbert once he's used that franchise to accomplish what he wanted.
I actually agree with him here. Owners and GMs trade players like stocks and bonds. When a player has a little power they should exercise it.
I hope they both take less than max so we don't have to gut our depth, but if necessary to sign PG then give him his max 1st and then give LBJ the option, since he needs to win more rings, of signing for less than his higher than PG's max if he really wants to be here and not gut the depth. Only way we beat GS next couple years.
Well the good news for Dan Gilbert is although he had it taken down off the team website, he still has the same draft on his desktop so he can just copy/paste this next summer with one small geographical fix:
If that's how you feel I get it. I don't go by rings to measure a players greatness. Many people call Wilt the most dominant player era wise they ever saw. He didn't really accomplish much in the grand scheme of things. LeBron gets a team to the finals year after year after year. Regardless of what you think about him, the conference he plays in, or anything else, you have to admit that's AMAZING. This is a team sport, and for the past decade he's been the best player and teammate in the game. If he wants to spend his closing prime years here I'm ALL for it. Oh, and I never said he's the GOAT. I just said an argument can easily be made. That flat out can't be disputed. The guy has a monster resume and he's not close to done. By the end of it you won't be able to have a conversation on NBA top 5's without his name being there every damn time. That's just reality.
Time to stop saying unsolicited nice things about Le flop I'll cross that bridge when we get there (If he signs here) and not a moment sooner
