For nearly two decades, Kobe Bryant has been the Los Angeles Lakers security blanket, providing comfort in the darkest moments. When Shaquille O’Neal fouled out in Game 4 of the 2000 Finals, a 22 year old Kobe took over and landed the victory plane. When Shaq was dealt to Miami, there was Kobe-prime, hauling the likes of Kwame Brown and Smush Parker to the playoffs. And when the Steve Nash/Dwight Howard era imploded on creaky legs and petulance, Bryant was there, giving everything he had, Achilles included.

Unfortunately, those days are over. A diminished Mamba can no longer carry the team on his back, and the announcement that he will retire at the conclusion of the season means that the light at the end of the tunnel is now glowing brighter than ever. It’s no longer appropriate to expect Kobe to save the day; instead, now is the time for admiring what has...

Does anyone take this dude seriously anymore? I was watching inside the NBA and he said the Lakers haven't drafted guys who can help immediately. Really? Clarkson as a second round pick was an immediate help once he starting getting consistent minutes last season and has progressed even further this season.

Then he talks about how they should've drafted Okafor over Russell. Talk about contradiction. During he draft he said D'Angelo was the best player in the draft and now he says they shouldn't have drafted him.

The Sixers just won their first game and considering Okafor just got suspended how exactly would he have helped us immediately over Russell? He's putting up great numbers. Good for him and they're 1-19 so obviously the great stats aren't leading to many wins.

I don't have any problem with saying Jahlil should've been the selection. I take issue with anyone who says that Russell was the best player and now it's a mistake. What about Julius Randle? Who should they have...

Well so we're in our 3rd?...4th?....season of futility. For me at least there's only so much WMCing I can do until I'm just repeating myself. Also it doesn't look like things are gonna get better anytime soon so I figured: you know what? Why don't don't we live in the past for a bit. People always accuse us of living in the past in regards to our championship years. I say, why not? Unlike other teams, we actually have a past to reminisce on. So I say, lets call to mind some great moments we as Laker fans have been privileged to have witnessed. We have some who have been around since Wilt, showtime, Shaq and Kobe, and so on. Favorite Laker moments, favorite videos, stories, whatever. Anything in Laker history that we loved and remember fondly. I'm making this thread specifically to remember the good times while presently enduring the hard times now. (So no WMC here! There's a thread for that. )

I have lots of good memories so I'll start with one. I remember when Phil...

I can't believe i'm talking about it so early in the season. Is there a great SF potential in the 2016 draft?
