He's an irritant. He is a grown man who hasn't really grown up. Epitome of a millennial. Him being a Laker seems to be a forgone conclusion. It will be hard to root for him.
Yeah. He is an irritant. If he leads us to a title, it's probably a little like having sex with your celebrity crush, but getting the herp from them. Sure you got to have that one special night that you'll always remember, but then you're reminded of what it cost you every so often. "I got to have sex with Kate Beckinsale, but it still burns when I pee once in a while."
That's why you wear a jimmy hat my friend. Especially with the Hollywood types. Those fools trade tricks left and right.
That assumes that he does what management tells him instead of trying to turn the place into his kingdom.
LeBron was in NY playing pickup with KD and JR Smith. Got me thinking -- What if LeBron comes and brings JR with him? That might be too much for me to stomach, as they're probably the 2 players i hate the most. Bron brings winning. JR just brings a rise in my blood pressure.
Eh. JR is under contract another year and the year after that is non-guaranteed. He'd have to get here in 2-3 years and take whatever exception we've got at the time. That's for Future Rob Pelinka to worry about.
I love how Lebron basically held up Cleveland forcing them to make some terrible signings like JR and Thompson. Neither one of them has played up to the contract, and now Lebron will leave them behind and totally handcuffed to those contracts and mired in mediocrity for many years to come. I'm glad that Magic is bigger than Lebron and he likely won't be able to pull that crap here. (If he comes)
Besides Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Blake Griffin, I have never disliked anyone in pro sports more than I have LeBron James. However, I've resigned myself to the fact that he is going to be a Laker this time next year, so I'm going to spend this next season trying to warm up to him as much as possible, although it's hard because of his narcissistic, immature attitude. I just hope when he gets here that Magic, Rob, and Luke, although inexperienced, have the gall to put an end to his petty BS and make him work to bring this franchise No. 17. Winning cures all ills and if he wins us a title or two, I'll hang his jersey in the rafters myself. Whether we like him or not, the signs are pointing in our direction and we just have to brace ourselves. Speaking of signs, in hindsight, I feel like this has been in the works for a while. I always believed LeBron would give LA or NYC a shot before his career is over because he has that type of personality and as soon as he won a title for Cleveland in 2016, I knew he'd finish his career in one of those two places. Magic being hired was the next step, as soon as he stepped in here I knew it would grab the attention of top tier players. Sure, we've been down this last little bit, but hearing "come to the Lakers and make us a winner again" has a lot more clout coming from the greatest point guard to ever live than it did from Jim Buss. Rob being hired as GM was another domino to fall, we didn't hire a guy who was one of the most powerful agents in basketball just to sign people like Mozgov and Deng. And speaking of Rob, I can't help but think the Black Mamba has been working the back channels on this. He and LeBron had some fierce battles, but the last year or two they became buddy-buddy all of a sudden. That wasn't for the faint of heart. Then you have him calling LA home, skipping the ESPYs to watch Lonzo courtside, KCP signing here for just one year with Rich Paul rubbing elbows and snapping pictures with Magic and Rob. It's going to happen and color me shocked if it doesn't. It's going to be hard to stomach that man wearing purple and gold, but if it makes us a contender again, it'll be worth it IMO. Hell, even if we can't beat the Warriors the next few years, Lonzo and Ingram will be able to learn from one of the best to ever do it and possibly another All-Star in George. Once LeBron and PG start declining, Lonzo and BI will be hitting their stride, setting us up to be favorites in the post Golden State-era. It is what it is. Go Lakers.
I personally am tickled pink by that prospect. Gilbert stuck holding the baggage of a ring he doesn't deserve? After what that f***er did to us? That would be the first thing LeBron could do to gain my appreciation as a Laker fan.
