I love how he says, "I talked to some people and Durant wouldn't be willing to come to LA without another star." Who were these people? 10 year olds with a 4th grade reading level? cause they could have told you that tidbit.
Nobody is coming to sign here to play for this management and Coach Grit, they aren't. Don't get your hopes up, keep them reaaaaal low from here on out. If B0ron is here we'll be scraping the bottom of the free agent barrel, again. We'll swing for the home run stars, miss, suck again, repeat, for as long as I can see going forward. This year it will be Durant, next year it will be Westbrook, the year after it will be whatever the biggest name is.
Remember when it was Kobe and Shaq, and guys like Malone and Payton would come over for the minimum and the MLE? And later Mitch would trade Kwame Brown and 2 packs of smokes for prime Pau Gasol. There's some bad Karma on us. There's an "unlucky" guy somewhere. My guess is Jim. I believe heavily in Karma, Jerry didn't do a lot but he had a lot of good karma and Jim proved he had none with the horse gig.
You know, I won't just go and conviniently say right now I always thought Whiteside was a good idea. I actually didn't. On the contrary, I thought it'd be a horrible idea... but you know, it's not only this couple of Playoffs game, but pretty much everything after the All-Star Game that's making me change my mind. I'm still a bit dubious, but each day I think it might actually be a good idea (if possible, that is). It's not just a thing about number, he really is intimidating the rivals and forcing their offense to change in a way right now is pretty impressive, all while actually becoming a real scoring threat. Sure, he's no Shaq or David Robinson, so to speak, but he does score. He's not Ben Wallace either in terms of scoring. On the contrary, am I the only one who sees a bit of Eddie Jones in DeMar DeRozan? And I don't mean playing style.
Ah, good comparison, but we needed Eddie Jones as a bridge to Shaq and Kobe. Yes, he was a regular season player who got us to the playoffs, and then was nothing special, just like DeRozan, but we need to start somewhere. We can't swing for the fences every year for superstars with no team in place. Shaq came here in large part I'm sure because we already had Eddie, Van Exel, Ceballos, and some others and were a playoff team. As for Whiteside, I was the same as you, didn't want him. I said very early in this season that he was playing well, but that he had only been playing that well for 1/2 of a season and 7-10 games or so of this one out of his 3 NBA seasons with a big break after his first two. I said I needed to see him finish this season the same as he finished last to prove he wasn't a fluke, and he did. His game has truly grown over the years. So now, I'm a believer, I'd throw a max deal at him at midnight July 1st.
If we sign Whiteside, draft Ingram and fire Byron, Mitch and Co. gets an A+. Realistically that is as good as it gets.
i think the reasons people have for coming around on whiteside are the reasons he'll be staying in miami. i'd make the offer, but i'd have plan B for a center already in the works.
I haven't seen any indication that Whiteside is even on the Front Office radar. We're going for Durant at midnight and probably Derozen after that. I like Witeside a lot, but I've seen nothing that tells me Mitch and Jimmy are changing their approach to free agency, swinging for the fences for big names.
Whiteside has been a Laker rumor target all year. Nothing concrete per se, but he's interested in LA and I believe we're interested in him. I think ultimately we need to pitch something great for him, but I do believe there's mutual interest.
^^^ I don't see Whiteside walking away from a Pat Riley regime to come to play for a cheap, wannabe imitation in B0ron Scott. Can you imagine the pushback you'd get from that guy with the way B0ron talks about his players and pushes them in practice? I'm not exaggerating either, I genuinely think B0ron Scott is going to cost us any and all free agents that could make a difference. DeRozan, Whiteside, Batum, any and all of them.
If we still keep Byron, I'd love to see push back from the players to help get rid of him. Maybe we should trade for Cousins because he gets rid of coaches well!
lol, are there advanced stats regarding socking suckas in the eye? if so, Byron will sock them in the eye. #grittalk
Whiteside is volatile in temperament. I don't think he'd be able to contain himself in the same manner as a Randle, Russell or Clarkson when Scott does his R Lee Ermey act. It would be a media frenzy once he airs his grievances in the press. Another thing is that the current crew does not have that one veteran that will keep stuff in-house, hold everything together in practice, in games and anywhere else for that matter. Our coach:
Well, the only reason to sign Scott Brooks apparently didn't mean much. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba...-sign-with-wizards-as-a-free-agent/ar-BBs7KC3
Draft ingram, sign derozan and horford and im stoked. At least we would be competitive again. Say no to batum. The guy is made of glass. Russell, derozan, ingram, randle, horford sixth man Clarkson.
Batum has played in 73, 82, 71, 70 games in the last 4 seasons. I mean, is he AC Green? No. But he's not made of glass.
