It’s come out today in various publications that this was a forced sale of Walters to this family. And it was tied to the DOJ Investigation. Do you know how many Businessmen would’ve been lining up to buy the Lakers if they knew it was for sale? Groups? Bezos??? Knight???? Cuban??? To get back at Dallas. who knows what they could’ve gone for. This was a forced sale.
I would be happy with a Bezos Cuban Lakers ownership group. That’s why I can’t wrap my head around this. It was such a quick sale. as to look like a sale of let us take this problem off of your hands. There’s an investigation being led by D.O.J. And then the guys the guy sells the team to has ties to a family who is in the White House. It smells fishy. especially when you add two weeks ago these guys were trying to buy the fifa World Cup. But hey Igar and Kushner let’s see how it plays out. I want all my players here. I want us competing for championships and spending money on whatever it takes to get it done.
Hi Karacha, didn’t mean any offence. Lobbying is just something that makes me absolutely dumb founded. Kushner and Iger are just the figure heads. They basically are the front facing part of a consortium of money raised from funds - it seems to be Saudi money primarily, but you never know. I’m not entirely sure that Kushner and Iger need to disclose where the money comes from in its entirety, as long as their funds have done the relevant KYC, ATF and AML checks, they should be accepted by the league without more due diligence.
chris paul in a front office position? f*** no in a bball role working with the players? i'd be fine with that as long as he knows his place and leaves his prima dona attitude at home
Still not a fan of this, at least Walter was a Laker fan. What loyalty to these guys have to the Laker legacy and brand? I guess it always had to happen at some point, not like Walter is super young, but man, feels weird to not be a family team and to be owned by some typical CEO dudes.
Wow he couldn’t have actually mentioned the Lakers once in that … if it was actually talking about the Lakers?
