Dog you’re a great poster. But man that’s giving up a lot for Portis. I look at players as capital. Knect LaRavia and the second round picks 2033. That’s a lot. Is Portis that much better than Knect and LaRavia.?

I’m just saying. LaRavia can do a lot.

I’m really big on the depth thing.

Kaminga is a difference maker we need to replace the scoring Lebron left. My issue with Rob when I look at what Rui signed for with the Clippers. It was clear he wanted to stay in L.A. I think is Bad GMing. Why not just sign Hachimura and Thyblysee and then you add Zaire Williams. You are adding the perimeter defense while brining Rui back for your offense that LeBron left. You could’ve shipped one of the other guys out.

So you can’t play tough guy with Kaminga it was clear you wanted him. And I don’t care it could’ve been Hachimura or Kaminga but you can’t just have that production sitting and not addressing it. So if you made your bed in Kaminga you gotta lay in it.

pretty sure the cap hold/space was the issue. his hold was so big we had to renounce to do most other things, so we couldn't use rights to sign him. we could have S&T'd him prior to signing the other guys, but no way to get kessler, mamu, and grimes AND retain rui at that number.

Im a fan of depth as well. Just trying to find a stop gap power forward. I suppose it could be Jake, but the shot might be kind of shaky. I know he shot good percentages before last season, but they were also on lower volume. Hopefully he could get his shot back. Jake is also a good defender, who gets steals and deflections. I suppose he could fill that role. Portis provides a proven track record of accurate and good vilume shooting, while also being a good rebounder and all around tough guy. He also has a fairly reasonable 2 year contract. Knecht might be lost in the shuffle, adn the kid just needs a fresh start.

if we don't get kuminga, i'm actually wondering if thybulle or williams isn't the fifth starter. luka's the pf in that unit. would need the guards to chip in on the boards a bit, but it's workable.

Yeah, maybe we might go that direction. Luka certainly could play power forward, he is a big dude. Better for him foot speed wise too. Only concern is he might take more of a beating. But heck, Jokic plays the 5, he's not a porclain doll. I think if we go this route, maybe Luka plays 2/3 of his minutes at the 4 and 1/3 at the 3.

Yeah I think if we don't do anything else, we go that route. The rebs worry me though, but we really need a 4 that defends 1-3 so Portis and alike wouldn't make sense. Kessler will clear a bunch of rebs though and this playoffs shown a trend of lineups with a big center and 4 perimeter guys.

But if we get Kuminga/PJ, that's an A+ offseason because the whole roster fits together and we have a lot of depth and different types of players. Without one of them, each role player guy needs to do a bit more than they're probably able to, but we do offset that with a bunch of options and maybe is enough to hold us until we get that final piece by the deadline/next summer

Having Cam Carr on this team might help Knect. I think Knect had some mental health issues. Let’s see how he does on this new team.

LaRavia played great when Austin was out. Let’s see how he responds with an increased role.

We have leverage. We have guys who are more than capable of doing the job.

would like to have Kuzma back. I love Kuzma and suggested him in earlier posts. He slides back as a stretch 4 in the starting lineup.

We could get him cheap. Like for a second rounder. Kuzma isn’t the athlete with upside as Kaminga and would be a huge letdown.

a poor Hachimura. But I would welcome it. Rob would have a B+ on the off-season because he would play D and hit the open shot.

but Kaminga changes alot with the dimension he brings and I give us an A+. Let’s get it done.

after summer league I’m sure every GM is calling asking about Carr and Thiero. You hang up the phone. You don’t want to make a trade just because you have to get a guy. Be smart.

    the key is depth.

I really hope this isn’t the direction we go, not a fan of wing starter by committee. I’m happy with the Williams and Thybulle signings, but they were also available for a reason, Williams could easily go the Cam Reddish route, and Thybulle hasn’t been even close to healthy. These are fine, great even, as backup and end of the bench signings, but as players to be heavily relied on, we’d be going the same route we have for years now, playing guys well above their pay grade and where they should be slotted. We won’t be anything going that route, so I really hope we aren’t.

That's true. Kessler is a phenominal rebounder. Also, Mamu and Thiero are also good rebounders. Carr is a good rebounder for his position. Williams is a career 5.1 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is not bad. If needed, rebounding is what Looney does.

Maybe better than trading assets for a 6-8 guy that doesn't rebound for example, like a Cam Johnson.

Does LaRavia and Hardy for Kuzma makes sense?

Kuzma gets 7.2 rebounds per 36 minutes for his career, which is similar to players like Kuminga and Washington.

His three-point accuracy is erratic, but at least you could count on him for some volume.

He's not a great defender, but he's decent in terms of defensive verstiity.

LaRavia is the better defender, while Kuzma is the better rebounder. Shooting might be an edge to Kuzma becasue of the volume. Also consolidate roster room with this trade.

luka's always going to be assigned the weakest offensive forward primarily, and reaves the weakest offensive guard. so grimes is going to have to take the tough starting guards, and player X will have to take the tough starting forwards.

it's not ideal. i have hoped there was a firmer plan for a starting forward than vet mins. unless they're serious about like, mamu playing that spot, which...i'm not sure about. early season jake seemed like he could be a 5th starter type at times, but late season jake did NOT. he definitely competes defensively, though.

He's a good stopgap option. Worse than Kuminga/PJ but better than whoever we have in the roster now.

Bucks have 17 players under contract though so not sure if they bite.
If we are 100% sure we can't get one of the other 2, I'm fine with this.

I wasn't expecting getting the whole roster this summer, Kuzma expiring can be interesting by the deadline. If we let him expiring in the summer we don't really get much though, so not sure how much we are interested in getting cornered like that

i only take kuzma if vando is outgoing. i think we can maybe make that trade 1 for 1 or at least close?

    again, not my top option.

literally nobody has 20m right now, so he has to find someone who can meet the price AND find the piece atlanta or a third team wants to make it work.

i don't know if he's going to get that 20m.

I’m not against starting Thybulle and playing him lower minutes if this is the roster day 1, I just would be disappointed if that’s the route we go. I still might prefer to start Jake because he rebounds better, or I guess maybe Mamu for the same reasons, but man that is indeed not ideal. Jake was awful to finish the season, but I dunno, he’s still young, he was healthy all season, if he gets that shot falling again he could be fine.

Well, I guess he’ll have to take the minimum from someone then? The league has kind of said they don’t want to pay him, so again, he needs a new agent.
