Our last transacation with Dallas was on draft night. We sent the 56th pick to them for cash. So, thet part was inaccurate.

Last week Buha reiterated ours was $20m over 2 and we had the deals in place to clear the space needed. JK wanted $20m per. He thought maybe there's some common ground in $15m, but that part wasn't sourced.

Evan started out as an aggregator and fairly quickly rose to what i thought was up there with the best in terms of source collecting, sharing/summarizing, and sourcing where it was from.

But there's a ceiling to the amount of views, clicks and $ that gets you. So he largely ditched that to "rumor" sourcing on his own. What he does is he'll take a rumor or a popular theory and either run with it or connect likely dots based on what the tea leaves are pointing towards. Claiming it as his own and not citing where those "ideas" came from. Every now and then when it's slow and he has nothing else to shovel, he'll go back to what he's truly good at and that's aggregating real stuff with a link.

So no, he knows absolutely nothing. If he gets something right it's cause he guessed right or stole it.

Ok that makes sense, he’s guessing based off rumor, but only saying things like “if” and “could” to cover himself with stuff like this

MLE’s can be used in S&T’s no? So that doesn’t make sense? A team that wanted him could still get his bird rights but pay him 15 with the MLE.

I love the optimism - I do. But that’s not depth.
    • Vando - out of the league after this contract
    • Knecht - the same
    • LaRavia - disappeared in the playoffs
    • Williams - just got let go by a tanking team
    • Thiero - we would be lucky if he gets a consistent 15-20 mins this year
    • Carr - looks a bit lost on defense, should get 15-20 mins in the rotation but sometimes it won’t be pretty
I think we’re kinda thin at the wing. Vando and Knecht aren’t rotation guys. Williams and LaRavia are ideally your 4th or 5th wings. LaRavia is probably starting right now.

From what I understand; that was if we signed him to capspace. After those talks, we went ahead and signed Reaves, Sexton and Looney. So now we’re an over the cap team. I believe the reason we did that is because Kuminga’s team said we’re not coming for 15 and it would of been too hard to dump multiple players.

yeah, been posting from the phone because i was out of town the past couple weeks.

basically, my feeling is that teams with the mle still remaining are substantially less desirable landing spots for several reasons.

if cleveland doesn't get lebron, then mayybe he gets a starting spot on top-level team there, too, which is what he should be angling for in his current position.

i don't understand the NO interest unless they're moving murphy (which i feel like should have happened by now?). also think that would be a mess waiting to happen, but then again, NO is up there with sac in terms of horribly-run organizations.

so yeah, i guess i stand by my statement from earlier--i think a S&T here for 10m beats an mle where it's left. now, of course he could be S&T'd to many places, but how many can offer a likely starting role with high visibility?

i still don't think we're out on this one. i also believe we probably have some secondary possibilities. for example, if NO decides to get kuminga, they certainly don't have room for either jones or bey, right?

I’m hearing it’s Miami for Lebron.

I don’t see how Miami works Lebron Giannis Bam. Wiggins Hardaway Mitchell.

it’s a nice team but they ain’t beating New York.

I guess Cleveland would get Kaminga so it will affect us.

Something I think it's being overlooked in general, especially by podcasters and stuff, is the overrating of established players vs odd fits elsewhere that go to a contender.

I understand the former has evidence to do it at the biggest stage but I think the perceived gap is too big and unreasonable.

What I'm talking about: for example PJ Washington and Gafford vs Grimes and Mamu. The first 2 are being overrated because they've done it with Luka in the Mavs. But people forget PJ was a mediocre/non-winning player in Charlotte (kind of Kuzma in the Wizards) and Gafford was almost irrelevant in the Wizards. They got traded to the Mavs and their perception around the league completely revamped.
I'm pretty confident that Grimes has been having a better career than PJ and Mamu a better one than Gafford before they got to the Mavs.
You can probably do the same with DJJ vs Ziaire.

So what I mean by this is that the league is full of cases where role players exceeded expectations in the proper role and context, while being underwhelming in bad contexts. So I think we should weight more the individual skill and fit rather "have you done in a contender?" as a token to evaluate X player.

That's why I'm quite high on our guys because I think they all fit really well, all have very specific and well-defined roles that will surely help them perform better. All while playing with one of the best stars to play with, that really simplifies your role offensively and you're constantly playing through advantages.

Absolutely. I keep saying that fit and chemistry are the most important thing if you truly want to be a contender. This new Laker team has serious potential.

i agree and will reiterate that contracts are about expected production going forward, not prior production.

btw, this is also why i'm higher on kuminga than most others here. this would be the best situation he's been in. i don't think you can assume things will be exactly as they were.

sexton is another example. he's been the offensive engine on bad teams, but he hasn't really had much of a shot to be a sixth man on a good team.

but anyway, yeah, so many guys we've coveted over time were once undesirables. and most of the biggest failed acquisitions are big names who turn out to be either past their prime or products of a previous system.

this dragging out for a full year is ridiculous. and why were the clippers allowed to just conduct business as usual if the outcome of this investigation could potentially undo some of it?

Kawhi is going to be retired before this is settled. Pablo Torre had and interesting podcast with I think the former head of NFL players union talking about cap circumcision and Kawhi. He talked about how the union is in a tough spot because they legally have to represent Kawhi but if they know he’s guilty, they lose credibility with the owners and once the fairness is lost, the league is in trouble.

i'm just annoyed it's all coming down on kawhi--not that i'm a big kawhi champion or anything, but all ballmer had to do was say no to uncle dennis. jeanie did, and we got to be the laughing stock of the league about it. how does ballmer come out smelling like a rose when he's the one writing the checks for the cheating? if uncle dennis asks you to murder someone so kawhi will play for the clippers, so you murder someone...why is kawhi the only person feeling anything from it?
