How does anyone know if that photo is recent or old?

 

He doesn’t look any different in that photo. Every photo I’ve seen he looks the same as last year. This is likely a joke and much ado about nothing.

 

Definitely. Kareem has a memory like an elephant but it also leads him to think he can stop on a dime like Luka and spot an extra 8oz on a Laker from a photo.

 

Latest sighting was in Spain, for a Jordan Tour event. June 15th. Still looks lean.

yeah, we definitely haven't built the same thing he had in dallas.

i think the biggest thing was getting younger in general, tbh. rui's the only young-ish player we let go.

but yeah, we still don't have the perimeter speed he had there, which was a big part of why it worked.

we do have the elite secondary creator and the lob threat/back line defender, though. those are probably the hardest two to get. it's a matter of finding a djj off the scrap heap (z. williams?) and a pj washington type trade.

and again, offseason isn't over yet. none of our deals are even official yet, are they?

 

To be fair, Dallas didn't have great defenders either.

They were ranked 18th in defense that season they went to the Finals. Pacers were also just slightly above average defensively and took OKC to 7 games in the Finals.

I think if this Lakers team can be elite offensively and have just average/slightly above average defense, it'll suffice. Maybe not win the entire thing but they'll be able to beat top teams just by outscoring them. I think if defense was their biggest concern, they would have re-signed Smart and gotten Ellis. It's just not what they envision probably.

With Walker on the team, they should at least be average.

But yeah, they should have gotten a couple of perimeter defenders as well.

The Mavs got thoroughly spanked in the Finals tho.TBH... I still don't think , that they would have beaten us in the playoffs, pre Luka trade.

Luka is a great player; you are supposed to be able win in different ways, with a great player. That's what makes them great IMO.

I'm not sure why this obsession, over what Dallas did, is soo prevalent around here. That team caught fire in the playoffs, it didn't mean that they discovered some kind of magic formula.

 

Agreed. There is no actual formula except continuity and build up.
