Yeah that’s what we need, another combo guard. I’d have rather had Smart at 9 mil. He also got a player option LMAO.
You let Kennard and Smart go for about $6 million, Tim Hardaway Jr. for $6 million to get Sexton at $9 million per year? What a complete embarrassment.
sexton's a decent bench piece, but why not just bring smart back at that price? unless he specifically wanted to play for houston just doesn't make any sense
Super glad we signed another small guard instead of a wing. Why not just play Bronny if you’re going this route
I need help understanding our depth chart. I have no idea what we’re doing. Edited your post for unnecessary sexual content - TIME
Luka | Sexton | Bronny AR | Carr | Knecht Grimes | Jake | vet min Mamu | Thiero | Vando Kessler | Ayton | vet min
The kind of energy that elevates everyone. JJ is the most excited person in Laker Nation right now. He won't sleep for a week.
poor man's Jordan clarkson joins the house I kid I kid but I think it's hilarious that Rob finally gets the version of Kendrick Nunn he was hoping for
You see things from your coach’s lens and I admire that. But in what world is an NBA coach excited about losing a ton of talented good players? There is a reason why talent almost always prevails. We were already short of talent to compete and we lost more than we added.
Sexton is a nice spark plug offensively off the bench. But he isn’t a playmaker. So I don’t know that he will get an tonne out of guys like Ayton, Carr, Adou etc. but he will get buckets and make shots. In a vacuum he is a nice pickup. Maybe if we offset Luka and Reaves a good chunk, they can handle most of the playmaking.
I understand your thinking. JJ is confident he can put this all together and is chomping at the bit to get started. From my view we gained way more than we lost. I think chemistry and effort will be much better as well. I will admit I typically have a very optimistic outlook...lol.
I thought our chemistry and effort February onwards was excellent, we gelled, played hard and had a tonne of camaraderie. I don’t know that we had much more juice left to squeeze on that side. Lebron accepted a 3rd role, Smart got everyone to buy in to multiple efforts defensively, Ayton and Hayes were averaging 20-14 between them. We lost a lot of talent. Kessler is a definite upgrade defensively but we have no POA defense right now and our wing defenders are Jake and Vando. Neither of who will start. We lost two of the best shooters in the NBA and added Sexton (who you want to use more as an on ball microwave scorer not spot up shooter) and Mamu who is an ok shooter that lost his shot in the playoffs (not a good comparison to Rui who shot 57%). I don’t think we got so much worse - although I do believe we did get worse - but we needed to get better on top of what we had. Now we have no assets to improve even with a good solid top 3.
