Seems like he’s been playing well on bad teams, and I don’t know why I had it in my head that he’s an atrocious shooter when he’s actually been fairly efficient from three point range most of his career.

I think he slots in nicely in the Marcus Smart role… of course if/when he excels in this role we’re going to lose him next year due to the PO

 

He’s younger, but a worse defender.

 

But why offer any of these players a player option?

No one is paying Walker what the Lakers could.

Sandro wasn't highly coveted. Neither was Grimes. These player options should have been team options.

Sexton at $9 million isn't bad but I'd rather have Smart.

Where are the defenders here? Only Kessler is above average defensively on this roster.

For better or worse, the Kessler/Sandro/Grimes/Reaves will be the core for the next 4 years. If it’s a disaster it’ll be really hard to get off alot of these contracts without any draft picks to attach. We will also be out of the running to try to get the next disgruntled allstar without any picks either.

I honestly do believe the money would have been better spent just running it back and bringing back Rui/Smart/Kennard, you get Kessler and then see what sort of wing defender with any leftover cap space/room exception.

Based off this roster construction I can clearly say we aren’t truly valuing perimeter shooting or defence.

If Luka sees this as a failure he has the option to leave in free agency in 2 years.

Yup.

 

Sexton is a god awful signing you have zero wings. When I look at this roster you are still 2 wings away yet you’ve exhausted all your assets. With LeBron this would be a very good team but that’s no longer possible. I’m glad they made moves but you just have barely even moved the needle.

 

So, the plan is to outscore every opponent, every night???
