@LTLakerFan just directing this at you: I have a scenario. We do okay in free agency in the next couple of years, but we haven't won a ring. We have some good teams, but we're in that 2nd tier of teams for the next two seasons Luka has a PO option, Dallas has the space to sign him, Reaves is 2 years older (if he's still your 2nd best player, which owuld be a failure in my book, but nonetheless) and you're looking at Dallas with a budding superstar in Cooper Flagg who's only 21.

What does he do? Only time will tell, but he has a fondness for Dallas in his heart, and he loves it there. Just hypothetical. Better hope we find that A-list center.

l thought about that when there was talk of Cuban trying to get back into the picture in Dallas. But with our world class ownership and operation in LA now and Luka playing on the biggest stage and having redirected his love here, number one I doubt he would leave, personally. Agree we need a really good 5 for what Luka and the team needs and have faith Walter’s competitiveness has the Lakers up to matching / beating Flagg’s team. That 3rd season of AR’s new contract if he suits up you owe me 100. If not and he’s gone in a trade before then you get my 100.

It should help cap his salary ceiling at the Room Exception. Maybe a hair under so we can keep a bit extra for a mid season buyout guy. That's one of Rob's go to moves is maintaining just a few dollars more than whatever the prorated minimum is for a mid season signing.

 

Hopefully also sets the market for Ellis. Give one part of the room exception and the other around 8 million from the cap room. Then you have a nice POA rotation, which each playing about 24 minutes.

Maybe he to came from the wrong neighborhood. When it comes to the integrity it has all kinds. The trickster, the foul baiter. the dirty player, these things can all be corrected with punishment. If they go unpunished then the league is somewhat ok with it. Remember now the NBA was much more physical at one point. I will say trying to injure a player is the worst of all but all is still a form of cheating. The team he plays for can also fix the act.
