Damn shame, it was an 8 week initial prognosis. We're at 5 weeks today. He'd probably be ready next round... sigh

 

Its not the Lakers year. Even if Luka is rushed back, still have to knock off the rust and chemistry with others will have to reset.

 

So if the prognosis really was 8 weeks such that the team has known for a while that Luka wasn't coming back in the second round, I'm all the more impressed by how they handled the Houston series. Would have been really easy to just say its not our year and pack it in.

 

I just can't stand how the league tilts the officiating. It gets old watching it. They don't "rig" the games per se but the players have said what they do on podcasts. They have said going into a series that they know it's going to take winning by 15 to win by 1. I understand it's entertainment and all of that. But, come on man. This series is hard to watch with the refs wearing blue jerseys too.

man, this guy's in a hole right now. i hope he can get his family situation to a better place over the next few months because you can see that it's taking a toll.

s***ty circumstances, but personally i'm very happy he won't be playing for slovenia in the summer. guy needs to rest up

 

i'll play devil's advocate a bit and say that the national team participation will help keep you in shape. but it does introduce the chance of further injury, so yeah, best to skip it this year.

anyway, i just think mentally, with the trade/move, the divorce or whatever, and now missing the playoffs with an injury...that's a lot of disappointment and frustration over a relatively short period of time. you can tell he wanted to be on the court.

 

And if he's anything like Kobe (and i think he is in this regard), and yes those were VERY different off the court problems, but the basketball court and those games acted as a sanctuary and a welcomed distraction from everything going on outside of those 48 minutes of hoops.

I think that escape would've helped his head space until our season wrapped and he could get back out there to see the kids in person.

 

I fully agree with this. Being in the right head space is critical. He hasn't been in that for a year and a half now. Since the trade it has been turmoil. To be able to take the summer off and reset will be great for him. He's likely burned out.

Getting it worked out with his kids and ex and being able to see the kids will be huge for him. Then, continue working out while he is doing that will be key. Last summer he slimmed up and got in shape. This year continue building on that and get his body more used to that workout regime will help with stamina and sustainability.

Realistically, the whole plan since the trade was building toward next season as a start anyway. It's just hard as fans to be in that.

The coaching staff is rock solid. I couldn't be happier with the coaching staff. Now finish the roster build and look toward next season.

 

I love Luka! But damn if he's expressing his love for Austin to ownership to play w/him for the foreseeable future, that is going to be basketball death for him. They will never win a championship has a duo unless they figure out a way to get Scottie Barnes and a Kessler to pair with them; in other words, it just isn't going to happen. If it ever does in the next 3-4 years, I'll cash app @LTLakerFan a thousand bucks.

It won't happen, and if that's the case (them together for the foreseeable future), I'll just turn into a casual. Can't really root for anybody else. Lakers have my heart.

 

You better do some sleuthing and find a way to contact Luka and set him straight dude. No way he knows ball like you.
