It’s better that Luka does it would feel legitimate. Everyone knows what Bam did was not. Luka already had 73 in a game so I don’t think he’d have any issues getting to 85 one of these games.

luka's 73 pt game is probably the greatest single game offensive performance of the modern era in my opinion. even more so than kobe's 81 (i rank kobe's 62 in 3 quarters ahead of his 81 pt game too, for what it's worth)

    just pure efficiency

The other thing this fails to mention. It wasn't just 43 shots and 43 free throws. Imagine if JJ ordered the team to start fouling late in the game to give Luka more possessions... when you're UP by 20.

The Bam game was a disgrace and an absolute stain on the league. This is the equivalent of throwing the ball at your own basket to try and get more rebounds for a triple double. And the NBA wonders why ratings are cratering.

    Just look at this embarrassment:

Not only did his teammates foul the other team to stop the clock and get more possessions. One of them intentionally missed a FT so they could potentially get a rebound and another possession...

Also, Bam shot only 36% FG% from the field in the second half. This was not a historic game by any measure. It was a manufactured 83 point game.

The sad part of this is if Bam scored 50 points instead, he would have gotten a lot more credit for it because he would have actually done it organically. That 83 point game is just a joke.

How many points would Luka, Shai, or ANT have if they manipulated the game in this very same way?

Luka could honestly get 90-100 if you decided before the game, against a tanking team, that we're gonna get Luka 90. This is ugly. And even more dissapointing is you have pundits talking about how amazing it is. Where is the integrity of these pundits? This was an absolute sham, and anyone who has watched the game for more than, I don't know, 5 years would understand how unbelievably unnatural this was. But I suppose I shouldn't expect anything more from a league where you have healthy players sitting out multiple games a season and 1/3rd of the league intentionally losing as many games as possible. I have not been watching the NBA near as much over the last few years. The way players treat the league and competition is just pathetic.

And this isn't an Old Man telling people to get off his lawn. When you have 1/3rd of your teams actively working against the point of the game, it's no longer a legitimate league.

I like Matas a lot. Would love to see him in a Laker uni some day.
His name just so happens to be the same as what I call one of my favorite musicians over the past 20 years: he goes by “Matisyahu.”

Ehh I wouldn’t go that far Kobe still had basically 10 more points while still on great efficiency in a more difficult era to score that many points. I have little doubt if Kobe played in today’s NBA with the lack of defense and physicality he could easily surpass what he did back in 2006.

I couldn’t care less about the fake MVP “award” than I do right now.
