I wonder if there’s someone Walter has already hired, or consults with, who could tell JJ to “play the kids who may have a future with us!” Or, does it always default to ”We are the Lakers, and we have to win as many games as possible, even though we have zero chance of even making the WCFs!” Maybe he can have Linda or Kurt relay the message?
I mean I get that you don’t tank, of course not, but to me we don’t have incentive to try to win a few more games with guys that won’t be here over seeing what we’ve got in our youth. If Adou can show some stuff that matters, because cheap contributors will be important. Same for Bufkin, see what you have there, and maybe you don’t have to go looking for a backup guard in free agency. But yeah in regard to winning every game we can, we own our pick this year, so yeah never tank, but if we’re 7-10th place and get a better pick because we spent more time giving young guys a shot, I don’t see it as a loss.
I agree with that. Even think I said a couple months ago that Adou should have more opportunities. But you do that early season, not 2 months from the playoffs, imo I never understood why some teams go with short rotations early in the year. Like I can't see that Adou playing 10 minutes a game would hurt considerably our chances of winning. Now, if you didn't do it until now, this is not the time. Now we start coming close to playoff rotation so we reach April at our top He may get some run in games we load manage our guys I don't agree with 'championship or bust' approach. Yes, we do not have a team to go all the way and get a title, but that doesn't mean punt the season, there's things in between. First, you don't show Luka you don't want to compete. Then you don't throw the last year of Bron + AR on a small contract. Finally, we want as many reps as possible in the playoffs and tough close games, that's how the team and staff grows and become more ready when we indeed are fighting for the title. Only in the Lakers you're 3 games behind the #2 seed in early February and fans want to punt the season. We have a top3 superstar. We have Bron. We have AR. No team has this offense power. I'm pretty sure every team wants to avoid us in the playoffs. We have a punchers chance. Maybe Luka wins us a couple games. The defense with Smart, LaRavia and Vando picks up in a couple games. Bron or AR win us a couple more. Our rival superstar goes down with an injury. We're a top team in the league in close games. You never know what can happen in a 7-game series, so at this point, today, we go all-in to postseason and maybe luck is in our side. No other way around it
He might as well just stay down there for the rest of the season, now that we have a guy who can actually make jumpers.
that kid has talent, but I think he's struggled not having the ball in his hands. "He's a rhythm guy, like me" --Fitbit Gabe (Probably)
Holy crap who are we starting for point to run the offense? Guess it's Nick Jr, Kobe and Bronny get the duty.
It’s time to seriously look into getting rid of back to backs in the NBA. They won’t, because it would mean loss of revenue, but it just weakens the product. We need a Commish who actually cares about the game, and isn’t only in it for the money.
The greed runs both ways, you think players want to take off 20% of their contracts to have less games? Nah, they're happy to rehab while getting paid tens of millions.
