Walter's group gets an 85/15 split on the earnings immediately, Jeanie keeps functioning as the Governor with the same powers she had pre-sale for 5 years. That's what it is. That's exactly why she had that specifically put into the contract. This cap space s*** is Jeanie and Rob's idea.

I'm unhappy with that, but I can totally understand Walter going for it, for reasons I already stated.

Why isn't it enforceable Abeer? It's written into the contract as a condition of the sale. That's absolutely legally enforceable. I know some of you guys think otherwise, but Jeanie Buss is not a dummy. Cuban is for thinking that a verbal agreement was, Silver said NO to that.

This doesn't mean that we can't win a chip with Jeanie calling the plays..she already has one. It doesn't mean we will ether.

I found the NBA owners contract online but it’s long and I have no interest in reading it. Being a governor of a team IMO is much more to do with setting up rules that teams will abide by. Voting on things the owners want to see. Things like the competition committee that decides what changes they will make for the next season. That DOES NOT mean the will be running day to day operations in any way. It’s more akin to teams sending a representative to the draft. That doesn’t mean that person the decision maker for who the team wants to draft. They are just a figurehead and that is what she is.

You seem to be confusing what owner and board of governors functions are. Yes sometimes they are one and the same. I do not think that is the case here.

She's a figure head. She fired her brothers so Mark didn't have to and could start bringing his probably trial scouts with good references from the people HE trusts right now. No way in hell nobody is scouting heavily for this draft. Come on why is everyone all of a sudden hung up on this? We got THE/the Type of owner everyone wanted. See what he did immediately with Dodgers. He's got his lieutenants working with Rob at Rob's request reportedly so he could better attempt to give Walter what he expects to see. Undoubtedly Mark's the guy approving what's going on. Jeanie reportedly always stayed away from basketball decisions unless it was for how much could be spent in luxury taxes. Especially now, and with her brothers gone, why with Mark here now would that change.

Yeah well who is running the day to day operations of the team then? If that has changed why don't we know who that is? Is this a secret with the Dodgers? You haven't even heard about this position being discussed by anyone, anywhere..why not? What's so different with the Lakers?

Name one single person Walter has installed in a decision making capacity on the basketball side..I'll wait.

no one thinks otherwise. it's just the same poster pulling his usual, tired contrarian act

there is zero chance walter bought the team only to allow the previous owner to call the shots on everything bball related

no one who you and i know of

jeanie could still be making some decisions right now, a few months removed from the sale being finalized, but does that mean it'll be the case a few years from now?

do you really think walter just isn't going to appoint any of his own people and let jeanie call the shots on everything?

Not being able to name them doesn’t mean they aren’t there—but this was my rant about journalism earlier. To me, this is info I want. As much as who didn’t want Kleber’s corpse today, I want to know who our new owner put in charge of scouting.

You think "maybe" he's doing the exhaustive search for candidates for the big positions as everyone says a "real properly run business and team" would do as opposed to how Jeanie ran it with people she knew and trusted personally? He took his careful time with the Dodgers too.

    Well this got heated. Lol.

I don’t think Jeanie will stick out the full 5 years but she could.

But there is a difference between having a title and having complete power.

Nothing to prevent Walter from clearing out the rest of the front office during that time period and certainly he has final say over basketball decisions.

Slick stirred up the Hornets nest!

I'm just asking the questions most of us are thinking. What's taking so long for Walter to put some of his folks in charge? I find it odd that his public comments have been all about continuity of leadership and such. No..I want damn change!! We all do..and this odd a** condition, about Jeanie being the Governor for 5 years makes me suspicious. Is this how he approached taking over the Dodgers? Leaving more or less the same people in place? I don't know, I don't follow Baseball.

    Is that OK LT? Cookie?

the sale was finalized a few months ago

walter could very well be waiting to see how this season plays out and evaluating potential candidates before making any major moves. this isn't something that takes shape overnight

Team appears to have come out tonight and stunk it up from 3 to make us all feel even better about the trade.

I think the Clippers did amazing. I’ve never seen a team get bailed out. They looked like senior citizens NBA. Harden at 36 Beal They have Kawhi

and they flip that to Garland 26 yrs. Old Mathurian 23 yrs. Old. Very athletic young backcourt. Very athletic backcourt. That can sprint now. And Garland has the ball in his hands. With Kawhi. With a young wing in Mathurian who can defend and protect Garland and you still have Jordan Miller and Derrick Jones. I would’ve never thought I’d be saying this but Lawrence Frank made a great trade. They get off Zubac and the team is now quicker more spacing. And they get a first round pick from Indiana that can be 8th in a deep draft or unprotected for 2031 insane. For Zubac.

Zubac is good but he ain’t Jaren Jackson Jr. or Anthony Davis.

I thought Low Key a great trade for us Kenard. Love this guy. He can shoot spaces the floor. And he’s the perfect player you need next to Luka stand in the corner let me find you and shoot the three. Perfect for Lebron and Reaves. You got Hachimura You got Ayton Vanderbilt healthy. Now Reddick has to make it work. That’s his job.
