Happy Luka Trade Anniversary for those that celebrate

Dillon Brooks: Luka Dončić is the hardest player to guard in the NBA.
Phoenix forward Dillon Brooks, considered one of the best defensive specialists in the NBA, called Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Dončić the most difficult player to guard in the league.
“He has an incredibly explosive first step, and once he gets you on his hip or back, you’re basically at his mercy. He has countless moves: change-of-direction drives, off-balance shots, and much more,” Brooks said in a conversation with streamer N3on.
This season, Dončić is averaging 33.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game

I still say what we need is Daniel Gafford. High energy big that can protect the rim, intimidate players in the paint, run the P&R with Luka to perfection, and is a beast near the basket. I'm not feeling Ayton. Energy is too low and he isn't that great rolling to the rim. A little lazy on defense too.

it's clear luka likes to play with hayes/gafford types. good news is that i think there are more of them out there than there are aytons--ayton is actually unusually skilled for a guy that big, and it's not maximized both in the modern nba and with a guy like luka as the offensive engine. i actually wonder if at some point after the deadline jj moves hayes to the starting spot, as ayton might be more valuable against second units with reaves while luka/bron sit.

    Alpha
    Or Beta

    he’s whatever comes after that.
    Not aggressive
Not a commanding presence unless against a small lineup

you have to spoon feed that kitten in order to get production

he ain’t no damn lion. He’s a kitten!

I've wondered that myself. Ayton is very skilled as a big. He just doesn't have the qualities that fit best with Luka. I just don't know that his ego would allow him to come off the bench.

Boston looking like they don't even miss Tatum much. I didn't see that coming.

that plus weak east. i think in the playoffs, they'll run into the same problem that the pre horford/holiday teams had, which is that they'll stop outhustling and out-executing everyone (because the other teams will care more), and their lack of a real pg will start to really show.

After a 2 month slump, he's completely back to being a Top 3 player in the league. Skinny Luka might even have another gear. We still need to get a couple of good defenders or this season is a wash.
