i don't blame him. he has a really short leash that's stifled any chance at development here. i imagine he's being included in plenty of scenarios and that we'd take an expiring and a decent 2nd for him. i'd really like two seconds, so we can add that to our current one to package with gabe/kleber.

I think we will move him if we can.

He was given a fair shot here and just wasn't able to capitalize.

yeah, i guess we could quibble about how much jj should have put up with. i just think other organizations are more willing to roll with the highs and lows of player development than we are.

He might become a more reliable shooter somewhere else but he’s too dumb to become a good defensive player. The game is way too fast for him to process and I don’t think that’s going to change substantially with more consistent playing time.

And that's sad since he showed some flashes before the trade

    reports were that he "demanded"

sorry, but no clout to demand anything, get out of my office

that being said, we were already shopping you, but way to spin it in a way where you don''t look like our garbage salary cap filler

    :Fishwink:

And I truly believe he will have a good career elsewhere. Not a good fit here unfortunately.

well, nobody under contract is truly able to "demand" out. it's always an ask, which was what dunleavy was (smartassedly) saying about kuminga's deal.

if dalton truly wanted to demand out, he could maybe approach us with a very low buyout number for next year's contract, and we could consider that. but that ain't happenin', so he can just hope someone else wants to give up something we want for him.

Actually, Irwin said his agent asked our front office if they could find him a new home by the deadline. People then took that and started spreading “demanded” all over because that’s what people do. Asking if your client could possibly be moved for a new opportunity is not a trade demand, it’s a request at most. For what it’s worth Trevor said he asked and was told Dalton didn’t demand a trade, so who knows, but again phrasing/wording here is important. A lot of people don’t like Irwin and like to work to try to make him look stupid.

    Funny random thing:

Lakers have a game break entertainment bit with players answering questions.

Knecht answer to 'which position would you play in football': quarterback

    Hilarious when...he can't remember plays

I have to give Knecht some props. He only played 3 minutes (which was plenty) but I saw him actually trying to play defense and hustle out there instead of being on Cloud Clueless.

i've said this before in the thread, but i think he's actually improved quite a bit defensively. his metrics this year have his offense being terrible. i haven't abandoned hope that he can be an nba player. to the contrary, i've pointed out recently how many other players with similar profiles to his aren't considered lost causes right now.
