I think Rob always had his own team for that, and it was parallel to the Buss boys. That's the impression that I got.

there are no realistic trades that will elevate this team to title contenders

let's just hope walter hands pelinka his walking papers this offseason and starts bringing in his own people

That’s not a good mentality for a FO to have, home runs or nothing. I would even be happy with doing a 2 or 3 for one thing to take back less money if possible, open us up to the buyout market. I agree with this take

once again, neither rob nor his mouthpieces claimed that the goal for the trade deadline was fix all problems or bust.

any salary incoming needs to be better than what we think we can do with it in the summer. i'm sure the FO has a clear list of players who would fit those criteria and aren't just laying around plotting for giannis's free agency in 2027 or something.

    @AnthonyIrwinLA

"If the Lakers intend to punt this season"

It's off season for the Dodgers and they have made their big moves. Do these guys actually think, with the stuff they are saying and hyperventilating about and you posting all of it, before seeing what actually happens in
3 more days ..... that Walter is unaware and hands off in this whole process, with HIS guys assisting, however that looks? You can think Pelinka stinks and the FO has stunk for years BUT you have the new sheriff in town now that everyone wanted. It's not solely on Pelinka at this point, common sense says. That makes no sense at all. Walter is going to f****** punt this season??

Whatever happens or does not happen within the next 3 days ..... Mark Walter, everyone's wet dream come true, will be involved in THAT decision. It's no longer "oh woe is Lakers Nation because Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka and their dysfunctional FO are the ONLY ones calling the shots". Same as it ever was. (Cue the Talking Heads) So if nothing happens save some of your ire for our deep pocketed, competitive as hell new fearless leader.

we've been shopping expirings and not wanting to take money back unless we got paid to do so. i have no problem with this.

again, waiting for the report that we're turning down significant upgrades in the form of long-term pieces due to the cap space plan.

so far, it was that we didn't want to downgrade from rui to hunter while adding salary in the summer. this makes PERFECT SENSE.

Do we agree that doing nothing is punting the year? I think that's the logical point we need to start at.

The next argument is going to be - well there wasn't any moves to be done before the trade deadline that made sense... and the counter argument to that is, other teams got things done.

Then people will bring up the lakers tax, lack of assets or side steps rather than clear upgrades. As fans we can go in a circle, but our results and team building doesn't really improve.

Sure we have Luka now, but that's mainly luck that a GM made the decision to get rid of him - that's not a repeatable methodology to get better. But our team building in general has kind of sucked for a while.

It’s an interesting thing as I do think it would be punting. But im not necessarily against that if it means we’re going to beef up our operation and get rid of anyone who needs to go including Rob if that’s what it takes.

I’m not really planning to go back and forth about it though. Get it done or get some people in here who can.

Laker DOOM gets the clicks. Rile up the fans. It's like a drug to these guys. Everyone talking as if they have sources inside getting the real scoop and thinking of what's going on. Same s*** show every deadline and FA period.

Guys like this are not irrational accounts, it’s just grown tiresome, it’s the same thing over and over, it doesn’t mean s*** if you have superstars and garbage around them.

Like I said include superstar owner Mark Walter in your ire if not happy with what does or doesn’t take place by the deadline. There’s no way in H with all the billions he just spent, and the difference with CBAs between MLB and the NBA they’re all aware of, that he’s not signing off on it.
