went to bed before game even started last night. wake up to headline: "lakers rally to beat short-handed grizzlies". i'm like, oh, i guess morant or JJJ were out?

this line in the recap: The Grizzlies were missing six players, including Zach Edey.

oh, yeah, who were the other five? name them! it wasn't coward or wells, their two-next best players. nor aldama, their next best player after that.

but we were without two starters, one of whom is an allstar and better than basically all grizzlies players.

well, he's been contributing heavily to the low 3p%, but yeah, you build around luka with athletic defenders. that's not what we have.

This team has recently been playing some of the ugliest, most inefficient and disinterested BB I have witnessed in my life. Serriously, just tough to watch. I hope they dig out of this collective slump sooner rather than later, but I have very little hope right now.

Won't even mention the defense.

 

most of our defensive problems are personnel, but some of it is coaching. if you don't have the personnel to switch things, stop switching things. if you feel like none of your players can navigate a screen, then you can hedge or trap and recover.

anyway, i don't think the defense is fixable in the short-term, so when AR or luka is out, we're going to lose a lot.

We might beat the Warriors (if they make the PO... and don't make any trades). Every other team in the west whoops our butts, unless Luka goes crazy for a round (probably against PHX, since he hates Booker).

Yeah but if AR had played hypothetically and we beat them by 10 or worse would the we’re doomed post have been necessary or you motivated to declare that and be talking about punting the season before the All Star break and trade deadline?

 

I’m sure I’m the first to question the white flag being thrown Here just because we lost a game mid season missing a key starter. It’s a fair question. You always get the darkest in advance of seeing what actually happens. Health will have the huge say on what happens in the playoffs for everyone.
