I wouldn't expect a former basketball player, to have any decision making, or roster construction input, on a professional baseball team.

However on the franchise that he played for, and served as the former team president? That's an entirely different situation. Besides, Rob was Magic's GM, I have yet to see anyone reporting, that Pelinka actually disagreed, with any decisions that Magic made. Only that Magic might have been, taking credit for the work he did. So I do expect Magic, to be involved with the Lakers, a lot more than he is with the Dodgers. Absolutely

Magic is a world class cheerleader and ambassador for the game, but should be limited to that role

Magic doesn’t want that job anyways. Because it’s the Lakers and it’s basketball, maybe he has a few more influences with game play, but other then that, the important decisions are not coming from him.

Lol..hell we still don't really know, who is actually, making the important decisions today. I point to JJ being Rob's guy, but we made a last ditch pitch for the college dude. Jeanie then said, that she was disappointed that he turned us down. Sounds like we weren't fully on the same page to me.

Biggest thing in Magic's case, if they made him a GM or director of basketball decisions, ??? whatever title, if he is not successful, they would have to fire him. If he was just a brand ambassador, that could be forever. He does not need the money, he has enough of that for multiple life spans. Why would he want to risk being associated with the team he loves?? If I were him, I would not want an actual job on the Lakers.

If you were Magic ... how'd you like to be called Buck Wino? I like it!

Magic never left the Lakers. Just did not like how things went on behind the scenes. But Jeannie never stopped going to him (or even Phil) for advice on decisions.

Magic and Walter are close from everything I heard. He will definitely have a voice and I don't think having him as a guy to help pitch players and represent the brand is a bad thing. It should have always been his role IMO.

His first two hires were execs from the Dodgers organization. I don't mind Magic. He's royalty, and his voice should carry weight, but he shouldn't be making the basketball decisons soley and should be done by a group of smart people including him. No problem with that. I'm not trippin.

s*** we have Kurt and Linda in the f**** room right now. LMAO.

Yeah man. Honestly just getting the Rambus family, Tim Black, etc out of hoops decisions is a step in the right direction alone. lol

rambii and tim only go when jeanie does, though i hope mark has already found ways to limit their involvement.

hearing how many voices were considered in some of our decision making actually concerned me quite a bit over time.

it was bad enough that magic and rob couldn't agree who did what, then you have these three people with nebulous jobs who are kind of over you in the organization just tossing input that you had to consider.

He should be setting up guidelines to keep them out of all important decision making

    Especially the Rambii
