his defensive metrics are bonkers - lakers would have the #2 rated defense based on his minutes. On the non-smart minutes they are bottom 8 or something. Way too dependen on a 32 yo with injury concerns. They need another defender who can make 3's desperately
Based on his athleticism and size, I agree. Try him out in Rui’s role for three games or so and see what happens.
Speaking of Adou .... in Marcus's thread (OK cause it's about D) .... does anyone remember and was impressed in the game before when he got like 3 or 4 minutes, with the steal he made on the opposite side of the court from the camera .... streaking out of nowhere from camera right going left to the hoop when he stole the ball at high speed and went on in for the dunk? 6'8" 235 or whatever!
Jesus another athletic team without Smart. Wish you could just duplicate him. Need two of him so if one is hurt the body double could play
He may play, you never know. But we're going to be without Luka, right? So, this is LeBron's chance to shine.
That man should never play 30 minutes again in his career. You are just playing with fire if you do so.
yeah, our old guys both have back issues, and that's bad. i think before the season i felt like we needed to plan as if smart was a luxury that we could deploy in the playoffs, but we'd need another solution during the season. it's why i was a little upset we had to let goodwin go (he's having his best season in a role that would help us, btw). my hope now is that smart's absence will allow nick smith to establish a role (very different than smart's) here. also means that i'm still pretty interested in seeing whether gabe/kleber can get us another wing defender type.
We need him. Buha rattled off the numbers on his pod today. With Smart on the court: 2nd defense rating Off the court: 27th And regarding that second video Weezy posted. That's one of the big reasons I wanted him Smart here was for the vet leadership on the court and then the bench with the younger guys. Haven't had that since Rondo.
Hopefully he'll be able to manage his time on the floor well from now on. We truly need his defensive leadership... the team looks totally different once he starts setting the tone.
